Well, How many of you would consider yourselves "norwegian" or "german" or "swedish" or something like that? Were you born in the US? how about your parents? My grandparents like to fly the icelandic flag because my grandpa's grandpa came over here with his family back in the day. I consider myself 100% American and don't hold on to the illusion that I'm "part german, part this and that". I think most of what he puts on the signs are not really harmful, possibly distasteful, but I only have a problem with one that the lady mentioned: We speak english in here.

That's expected I suppose, after all it's in texas and white people hate mexican emigrants there, but did they ever think about people coming over from europe 100 years ago? A lot of them didn't speak english.

They'll learn the language eventually, if you give them a chance. Racism, hatred and bigotry will always be around here and everywhere else around the world but the people who try and get away from all that are the ones who are on the moral high ground. I think that bar owner is not one of them.

AFAIK the european people did not come to America to demand handouts, they came here to have the opportunity to work and provide a better life for their family.

So true. We as Americans had better starting looking at what's happening in our country. Accept this or not, but everything in this counrty is MONEY driven, let me repeat, MONEY driven. 100 years ago people came to this country LEGALLY for the purpose of supporting this country and making a better life for themselves and have more freedom, not to dumb down the American workforce. The imigration issue is not getting fixed because BIG money does not want it fixed. I keep hearing, "they will do jobs Americans won't do". Bull shit! Name 1 job an American won't do. But we can name plenty of jobs Americans won't do for $5 an hour. That's why they are being allowed into this country and why they are trying to slowly give them amnesty or work cards or what ever else they can think of to keep them here. It's about supply and demand, but instead of it being about product, it's about the American workforce.

OK, I'm off the soapbox for now.

This is exactly why there is NO universal healthcare system, which by the way is a One Billion PLUS DOLLAR industry, and there is NO universal education system (no child left behind is good, on paper, kinda, but it can suck a dick because it doesn't do shit and just wastes tax money.) Sure, they say it's "progressing," but after 8 years in the Wayzata education system, bullshit. This is also why I don't qualify for jack shit for student loans for college. I mean, they tell you all your life in school, "you can be whatever you want to be when you grow up," HA, fuck off, bullshit, no you can't. Not unless, A: you are wicked intelligent, manage to graduate with honors and get scholarships up the ass, B: have "wealthy enough" parents to pay, or C: you are so dirt poor that you can't even pay for food and get tons of grant money.

With the jobs "we won't do," you're right, we won't do jobs for $5/hr, yet we get all pissed off with "they took our jobs!!!" attitude because the immigrants sure as hell will work for $5 an hour. But that attitude can be contributed to the fact that companies are so fucking money hungry that they'll only pay $5 an hour for you to cook fries while they gross $25,000,000,000 a year in revenue. If they paid maybe $9/hr for that, thus getting the rest of the lazy-ass unemployed bitching Americans to get out a get a job, maybe they'd gross only $20,000,000,000 a year, but I guess because every big business is run by biggots, bastards, and greedy motherfuckers, that $5 billion means just too much. What the fuck would they do with that money other than let it sit in stocks or Swiss bank accounts until they die anyway?

I'm against illegal immigration, I think if you wanna live in someone's country that you do it legally like everyone else, and I don't think that there's any argument against that. I mean, let's say we start heading to Mexico, (not that we're going to, but hypothetically) you think that Mexico, much less any other country will let us get away with it? Fuck no!!! But that's another topic and is way too hypothetical to matter as there is no country with an economy, diversity, and market like the U.S, so you can probably just ignore what I said there. As much as I believe that illegal immigration is wrong, I do know that for a FUCKING FACT, ladies and gentlemen, if we we're to kick the immigrants out, it would dent our economy so fucking bad that we would probably go into a depression.

wow, your angry!

anyways, i lived in Mexico (illegally) for four years, and my family didnt have any problems. As for illegal immigrants here in the US, i dont really have a problem with it, i say if they are going to work, let em in!

I know ALOT of illegal mexicans, and they are ALL very good decent people, they work hard for their money, and they pay taxes too.

I dont see what the big deal is, and why everyone gets all angry over illegal immigrants, oh well!

I wont understand your point of view, and you wont understand mine, thats just the way it is....

as far the bar signs, if you dont like what its saying dont go to that bar! and if it really pisses you off that much too even look at it, then just find a new way home so you dont have to drive past it. Seems simple enough to me.

I swear some people just look for reasons to be pissed......oh well!

Immigrants don't anger me at all, and I was drunk when I typed that . The fact that people have all these stupid misconceptions about it and don't know anything about it, just hearing blips on the news, and developing some BS opinion out of basically nothing. And I meant if all of a sudden a shitload of people started flooding to Mexico for something better for whatever reason and being off the radar, I don't think that would fly with the Mexican government.

How are illegal immigrants paying taxes when there is no social security number to pay them to? I grew up in a town of a lot of illegal immigrants (meat packing plant that would rent a bus and bring them up). The adults were usually not too bad, but the kids would steal quite a bit and cause lots of other problems. Overall it is not a good thing. Just pay american's more to do the same job.

A friend of mine used to work with some illegals, and he said that they will use other people's ss numbers so they can get jobs at places that require it. He told me that the place he worked at there was a legal immigrant with a legal ss number, but that he let 4 other people use that number so they could get jobs at other places. Seems like a pretty fucked up situation to me.

Agreed. This topic is one of them, a lot of americans who's lives aren't affected in the least by immigrants (illegal or not) get on the bandwagon because there are politicians talking about it like it's really super important.

I wish I could name a recent topic that is actually more important, and I'm sure there are plenty, but I don't have a tv and cnn.com is boring and hard to find in-depth stories.
