EDIT***
Mentioned this already too but this baby took me to the high 13s, 18.84 to be exact. This is probably nothing to you big hp monster, but it was pretty exciting for me as it was my first time ever going that fast too.
18.84. I hope not.

Evo's are quite expensive, and are expensive to maintain. They also can go to hell quickly if they are not up-kept or properly modded/taken care of. (as with any car)

How are they expensive to maintain? Nice tires, synthetic oil? ooooo

I had today off so I decided to take my car in to have it checked out. By the way, it's a 96 gst with a 2gb front and rear conversion only. I was too lazy and didn't feel like trying to figure it out so that's why I took it in. Did a boost leak, problem sort of easily fixed, still some more but nothing big. Had an exhaust leak where the turbo meets the manifold because it was loose. I thought I tightened it really good already the last time I replace the exhaust manifold gasket, but I guess not. Then I went ahead and ask them to do a compression test. Now, I don't know too much but I trusted the guy who was working on my car. Compression came out to be 120 across and I guess that's the lowest you can go with a 2g stock 7 bolt correct?
:rude: At that point, it was pointless to check for crankwalk. I was pretty much just bummed out when I left knowing my motor was going to hell. I could do a 6 bolt swap but I rather not as I would rather do more work to the car if it was a GSX/AWD model. Only thing I regret on this car is not doing a compression test before modding it up and just having it tuned 1 1/2 ago. Posted the numbers up already but it was 291 whp. This just totally sucked!
Long story short, went to the shop, came out knowing motor was going to die, and now I need to decide what to do next? I want to part it out back to stock but I'm too lazy. Maybe get a 2g gsx and swap some parts over from the gst? Don't part it out and just sell all of it and get a Evo? I probably have a better chance just getting another 2g, gsx this time around as to getting a evo as I know I am pretty young and wont get approved for one and the fact that I don't feel like paying money up the A** monthly for one.
Anyone want to give inputs on which route I should go with? Sorry, I know my story is long, but thanks for reading my gibberish crap.
Why don't you just do an AWD swap? It's not that hard, and everyone is doing it thesedays!

Yea, I meant 13.84, not 18. If I knew more about DSM, I would've just started with a awd from the start. I bought this car at 76k miles, I think I'm the 3rd owner for 4,500 only from a buddy I worked with. Now that I think about all the dsms being sold out there, I think I got a pretty good deal on mine which is way I didn't think too much if I got a gst/gsx. Honestly, I knew nothing about cars until after getting this car. Then I learned about vfaq and all these forums and that was when it pretty much started coming in.
I guess one of these days when I have time again, I'll just do another compression and do a leak down test to make sure. For now, I just hope it doesn't die on the road while I'm driving. *knock on wood!

It wont die. Just keep it maintaned and let her buck. Save up for the 6bolt AWD swap and be done with it for now. 120 is not bad. 13.84 is not bad Just keep driving it. GST's can be as fun as GSX's.
