I had today off so I decided to take my car in to have it checked out. By the way, it's a 96 gst with a 2gb front and rear conversion only. I was too lazy and didn't feel like trying to figure it out so that's why I took it in. Did a boost leak, problem sort of easily fixed, still some more but nothing big. Had an exhaust leak where the turbo meets the manifold because it was loose. I thought I tightened it really good already the last time I replace the exhaust manifold gasket, but I guess not. Then I went ahead and ask them to do a compression test. Now, I don't know too much but I trusted the guy who was working on my car. Compression came out to be 120 across and I guess that's the lowest you can go with a 2g stock 7 bolt correct?

:rude: At that point, it was pointless to check for crankwalk. I was pretty much just bummed out when I left knowing my motor was going to hell. I could do a 6 bolt swap but I rather not as I would rather do more work to the car if it was a GSX/AWD model. Only thing I regret on this car is not doing a compression test before modding it up and just having it tuned 1 1/2 ago. Posted the numbers up already but it was 291 whp. This just totally sucked!

Long story short, went to the shop, came out knowing motor was going to die, and now I need to decide what to do next? I want to part it out back to stock but I'm too lazy. Maybe get a 2g gsx and swap some parts over from the gst? Don't part it out and just sell all of it and get a Evo? I probably have a better chance just getting another 2g, gsx this time around as to getting a evo as I know I am pretty young and wont get approved for one and the fact that I don't feel like paying money up the A** monthly for one.

Anyone want to give inputs on which route I should go with? Sorry, I know my story is long, but thanks for reading my gibberish crap.

start saveing for a built 6 bolt, and run it till it dies.

120 across the board is not aweful, it will still run. Might want to do the compression test again w/ a different tester. Some read low. The main thing you want is consistent compression across the board.

Do the crankwalk check. Don't stress, this is one of those pay-to-play things man!

what are the mods, and what dyno? That HP number really isn't horrible.

Not sure what dyno it was. I think something like Dyno com? That's what it sounded like. They have a webpage at www.beyondredline.com here in Green Bay, WI. That's where I took the car too. The owner there is Luke and he's a pretty cool guy who knows a lot about cars and dsm.

Mods on the car are: Stock engine, tranny, evo3 16g, ported exhaust manifold 7cm, 3" Ebay downpipe not cat., buschur racing 3" catback, GM MAFT setup, Denso 660's, Walbro 255 rewired, fullthrottle afpr, Greddy 24r fmic, ngk bpr7es spark plugs and wires, safc 2, and I'm pretty sure that might be all of it.

EDIT***
Mentioned this already too but this baby took me to the high 13s, 13.84 to be exact. This is probably nothing to you big hp monster, but it was pretty exciting for me as it was my first time ever going that fast too.

I'd buy chers evo if you want an evo. That really sucks though man, I'm starting to save for a built 6bolt or possibly a diff car for when my 2g gsx walks :( You still got some life in it. I say sell the parts you don't really need and then drive her till she dies then part it out.

Evo's are quite expensive, and are expensive to maintain. They also can go to hell quickly if they are not up-kept or properly modded/taken care of. (as with any car)

If that makes your worst day ever, i am extremely happy for you!!!

Life is long... enjoy the little setbacks like that, make the best of it, and slowly build up your 6bolt ;p

put in a 6bolt and find a recked awd for a swap into your shell
