View Full Version : *Vent*
DMS's aren't unreliable, it is that most of the people take shortcuts and don't do things the way they should be done. Do it right and they are a reliable car.

Well if oil is showing up around the head then thats an easy fix. As for grounding two wires to adjust the BISS screw...when did that happen? All I did was take a screw driver and turned it until my idle was around 800rpms. Unless this is a new way of doing it? but anyways keep that head up high and fix it again. Sounds like you just have a small problem.

It is normal that you need to "vent" every once in a while. Trust me everybody does it, they just don't post it on the forum. Shit I've wanted to sell my car like 413645 times but I don't because I could never get back the money or time I put into it.
hahaha....yeah I've been tempted to sell my car a gazillion times too, but wont get back nearly what I put into it. You can either sell it now and take the losses or keep it and learn from ur mistakes. I'm keeping mine and dealing with the losses and doing things right this time around and maybe someday I'll love to drive my car like how I used to =P.

Jake said he'd fix your exhaust so you don't need to vent about that. I don't know if you knew this but dsms are not the most reliable cars. I told you right off the bat to sell your car and save yourself the money and stress. Go buy a civic
p.s. if this sounds really mean or like I'm attacking you, I'm not. Since this is the internet and you can't really see how somebody is saying something, just don't take any offense thanks!
Not smart to speak for Jake, as you don't know exactly what happened. The problem is, last night the check engine light came on after I adjusted the idle. It ran real rich all night, then this morning before school, it wouldn't start. It just keeps flooding itself. I remember various threads where that has happened and it turns out the ecu caps were leaking. I'll take a look today or tomorrow, but as of right now I hope to save up and get a cheap ass beater car. There's a 1.8 auto laser a friend has that'll sell me it for 300. We'll see.

That's why I'm thinking about going completely through my whole car, because of the car's past.
A. It was a N/T 90 Laser with a 4g63t swapped in.
B. A redneck owned it.
Almost like a restoration, in a way. Just not going to do the body. I'll have to talk it over with my parents if I can use their garage.
The ECU caps have nothing to do with the BISS screw. I would say you might have trashed the O-ring on the BISS screw when you adjusted it.

That would cause it to flood itself?
It would suck in unmetered air and actually run lean and possibly die. Do you know for sure it is running rich? I would do a boost leak test, the BISS screw would show up on that if it is bad.

It is running rich. I just got home and it fired right up, but she runs really rich. It also throws a CEL after about 1-2 minutes after starting it up. I check the ECU, it seems fine. When I rev it I can see the black soot on the pavement after my muffler.
With the way it's running I don't want to risk driving it anywhere. Another issue I have is that I can't find my data logger for the life of me.

Just start taking out loans.
I bought my DSM with a trashed tranny, drove it until it grenaded, went to Wells Fargo, took out another loan on top of my existing car loan. Only went up 30 some bucks I pay $136.21/mo. for my $4k loan. So, take out $4k, send some money to Shep or TRE, send the other half to Steve Hill (SGH Enterprises) or whoever gives you a chubby on building engines, throw it in the turd and drive it.
Just don't half-ass shit and you'll be running like a reliable car. Or go out and buy a car/truck with an Industrial engine for reliability.
I've wanted to sell my car many times, but damn, thinking about how bad I could whoop on some v8's keeps me smiling and the title in my hand. Good things come to those who wait.
Or go buy a honda 1.5L and a fart cannon and throw in some asian font seat covers.
