Most NASCAR driver's start out racing on dirt tracks. When I go to the fall Talladega race Tony Stewart still fields a dirt track car on Friday-Saturday night at the Talladega dirt track.
Tony Stewart also owns a World of Outlaws team, and owns a handful of dirt cars which he sometimes races at local tracks, most notably at Cedar Lake Speedway just across the river in Wisconsin. Many other NASCAR drivers own dirt track teams and/or cars that they race regularly.

And yes, although growing on me, NASCAR is still for rednecks and their sons-brothers. They use carbs, cmon! How good can it be?

Well a guy just crossed the finish line upside down and on fire in the Daytona 500 for 18th place. Works for me!

Ironically it was the 07 car that I saw at the start of the race. They wrote the "7" all funky and I remember thinking it would look exactly like a "20" upside down. Turns out it did.

The last 40 laps were exciting as hell. Excellent finish! Too bad Martin didn't win.

I caught 3 bits of the race and each time there were crashes. I suppose as the rednecks say, "Rubbin' is racin'."

I agree, would have been cool to see him and Kurt Busch fight it out at the end. Just a racing deal between them though...

Keep in mind they were going over 180mph when they crossed the line like that.
