Also, can anyone give me a straight answer, what can i expect back on my taxes this year, with this being my first year being a home owner.

That totally depends on how much you paid in, the interest paid and how much you made.

No I didn't get it yet Aaron. There's a lady looking at it and she has dibs on it. I did take her for a test drive, and for the price, I think it's a pretty good deal.

Just do your taxes online, your simple return will take under 30 mins. If you don't have all your forms yet just guess at the numbers and then go back and edit them once your forms come then e-file it. People can't tell you what your return is going to be, it is dependent on many different factors.

You should get back basically everything you paid into Federal Taxes then and also State. That doesn't include SS or anything like that. So you have to check your W-2 or last pay stub of the year to see what you paid in.

I'm getting 540 back from fed.... I paid in close to 2k... does that sound right? I'm single, not considered a dependent, live at home if that matters... I got about the same amount last year, but made 20-25% of what I did this year compared to 06.

It's different for everyone, there aren't some magic numbers that should be about right. It depends on how much you paid in vs. how much you made, deductions, dependants, what tax bracket you're in...
