Needless to say I ordered an AppleTV as soon as their store came back online. This thing will stream video from any iTunes mac or PC and let you download videos straight to it from the internet. Built in Wifi and hard drive :)

The iPhone is expensive, but it looks absolutly insane. No buttons on it. Plays music, and then as you bring the phone to your ear there is a motion sensor that fades out the music and a proximity sensor so it doesn't push buttons as you touch the phone to your face. Built in google maps, yadda yadda yadda, the thing is as featureful as everyone was hoping.

haha I was gonna post this right after I found out, but I've been too busy talking to people at work about it. That and I wasn't sure if anyone on here would care.
runs OSX which means it should be supportive of 3rd party codecs, which means... I have to get one. I can't believe I want an apple product, this is the 1st time in history.

That's kinda cool and exciting. Apple is pretty good about bringing to the masses what geeks can already do. This looks like a friendly packaging of a Tivo/MediaPC and SlingBox combo plus a proper mobile phone (like a Treo).
I'm still not sold on watching video "on the go". My Treo 700p already has SprintTV and a pocket video player and I rarely use it unless I'm just trying to kill time. So while cool, that feature just isn't necessary for me.
The cool thing about this is the on demand content. On demand is the only way to fly these days, but I'll take an original XBox running XboxMediaCenter and downloads via Bittorrent over paying for Apples DRM'd content anyday.

yeah, I already use orb.com to view all my media on my pocket PC phone, however the interface is extremely nice on this. Plus the 8GB storage space is awesome too.
The only things I don't like about it, is the fact that it uses EDGE so it's not on a 3G network. I'm also worried about how well the keyboard will work, the qwerty keyboard on my phone is amazing and I use it quite often. And how hard it will be to install 3rd party apps/codecs. But if all those things work out and the processor is fast enough for divx.... I'll probably get it.

Nevermind, I thought the AppleTV would stream to the phone. Guess it actually does less then my XBox can.
The builtin WiFi in the phone kicks ass and kudos to Apple for getting it in there. Palm didn't put it in the Treo because cellular providers didn't like it competing with them. I'm a little skeptical of no "hard buttons" though. Good luck using it without looking directly at it. Been there, done that, bought a Treo. :D

That AppleTV is out of the question for people that does not have HD ready TV's. My TV does not even have componet video. Hell it does not have S-video. Eh...I love to get that but I have to get a new TV. As for the iPhone looks very nice. Damn I want that iphone. That is more powerful then the video ipod. Heck its a itunes built right into it. That is very nice. But eh...can not get it at this time. grrr Thanks for that info man thank you.

That phone is sweet. I wonder if you can download 3rd party software to it and how much memory does it have. I bought my Treo just for the ability to run car pricing software. Other than that, it's a complete brick.
