make sure that bad boy is seated correctly, and that there is not too much thermal paste on there.
Do this and report back.

My P5N32-SLI and P4 Cedarmill @ 3.6ghz idles at 16° C
That 8-Phase Power Design should be helping with the temps but that factory thermal compound I'm not to sure about.
Forgot, that's only with factory heat sink with Arctic Silver 5
Have you looked into watercooling?

If its your first build odds are you used wayyy too much thermal compound. You barely need to coat it, and only coat one surface (HSF surface).
Make sure the HSF fan is turning too, and that there is good airflow getting to that area of the case.

Well the thing is, the HSF came with the thermal compound applied to it in 3 small strips. All that was needed of me as per the instructions was to install the HSF to the CPU. I just don't know what happened.. After the BSOD the temps are now 15*C higher at idle than they were before it.

Something is obviously messed up between the processor and the heat sink. If they are not perfectly in contact by any amount it will overheat. Take it apart and try again.

Check for a change in your BIOS settings. Make sure the cooling fans are working, don't just assume they are.
