Why bother risking your pride and joy? Granted, most of us with DSMs have other cars to drive, but for a lot of you younger guys this is your only form of transportation. I would never even think of putting my countless dollars and hours of work to waste by street tuning, and I would hope you feel the same way about your car.

Do it right, or don't do it at all and go buy a Honda instead.

So.....in order to "properly" street tune, you need what? dsm link or a wideband?

Well what you need is to not street tune.
You need a dyno or a closed environment where you can moniter the engine properly and gains/losses associated with making changes. Good luck trying to do that on the highway when you are also worried about loosing your license (remember boys and girls 100+mph and they can and probably will yank your license).
Track or dyno, only 2 places to tune.

I wholeheartedly agree, but i do not street tune in traffic or for that matter any populated area, i always go out to the boondocks where its isolated. For example park and ride off of 35w near forest lake. There is like a mile of pretty flat clean road that is really out of the way of any driver to even take a side detour for any reason and if you go after work hours there is literally no one within a mile of you. But you are still right about risking your car, there is always a chance.

But for me the cons still outweigh the pros to get a dyno tune after every mod i get.

I thought they just past the Law or amendment. You automaticly go to jail and get your license suspended for getting caught over 100.

It never ends though. When will it get to the point that you have every mod you are going to get?

In my opinion tuning is one of the best mods you could do.

well i feel that i'm near the end of buying my mods, all i need is cams and maybe headwork with an intake manifold. But i will buy some non-performance mods as well ex: clutch, rebuilt tranny, coilovers. After i buy the performance mods i will get a legit dyno tune and not touch it.

I'm starting to understand now. Another question....I heard that the you shouldn't use the knock warning meter on the safcll or a logger because it is not accurate or something....Is this true? Or can I depend on them? Also, what other warning meters does the safcll and the logger have that I should be using?

Correct, dont worry if you have a knock reading on the safc. I was getting some high knock number during regular driving at 55mph, on a stock car.

take your car + SAFC to LSE/MAP/DB
