So many 16G options, and prices are so wide ranged. Some of the HP ratings are kinda different even though their the same turbo. FP, SBR, BHP...

My budget is $600-700 for a turbo!

Small 16g
Big 16g
Evo III Big 16g
18g-5h (any experience?)
GT 16G Turbo
Is there such thing as just a 16G turbo or is that just the same as a small 16G?

I was thinking of going with the GT 16G from www.DSMparts.com (http://www.DSMparts.com) for $540

Desc: Big 16G GT model has a smaller turbine scroll for quicker spool up. This turbo comes complete with the additions of a full port job and 34 mm waste gate port and flapper disc.

Specs: Compressor Wheel = Big 16G // Inducer Diameter 1.892" // Exducer Diameter 2.680" // CFM 550 Turbine wheel = TD05H // Inducer Diameter 2.200" // Exducer Diameter 1.930" // Turbine Housing 7cm2 // HP 400 .

TECH TIP: This turbo is not MHI, it is manufactured by BBL group. (does mean that I have to do something else to it?)

So should I also take into consideration of the Inducer and Exducer sizes?

A normal/plain 16G is the small 16G. The one to get is a real MHI Evo 3 16G.

$530 for an Evo 16g from me.
I am usually 1 week out.

Stay away from the GT 16G's, they are knock-offs from China. The EVOIII 16G is a great choice and that price Swanny (niterydr) is offering is a great deal.

It's not harder to tune a .50 trim. I would suggest it to anyone wanting to make more power over stock. You tune to airflow through the engine, whether it's an evo3 16g or a .50 trim. Tuning is tuning. The .50 trim has been proven many times over to be a great street turbo for the 2.0L, even better for a 2.3-2.4L if you like near off idle boost responce. ;)

I like my PTE 50trim. I personally like 20g's, but I got the 50 trim because I got a sweet deal on it.

Exactly. The 16g is barely an "upgrade". The only one I'd ever consider, if ever, would be a Evo3 16g because it actually does make a good amount of power for the money spent on it. A tune is a tune. When you start guess "tuning" is when shit blows up. I bet you'd be happy with a 50 trim. If you're on a budget, you might be able to even get away with an internally gated one; but port it for it to not creep. My low compression 1g motor spooled my ancient Mutt 50 trim up by low 4000s on the street and hit pretty good at 30 psi.

As above stated..50 trim is the way to go.

Don't bother with the intake mani just yet. It really won't help you a whole lot over the stock one, until you are revving really high, and you are making a lot more power. 500 spent on that mani to gain a fe wextra horse could be used towards something else, like nitrous, or even c16 for your car.

I currently have a small 16g... and it is kind of slow! Very few supporting mods that is. Remember I was the 1g that ran consistent 16s at August Sport Compact!

Thats because you don't have all the supporting mods to actually take advantage of it. I'm pretty sure 16G's have gone 11's, with a good driver and the right setup they can very easily be low/mid 12-sec cars.
