They actually don't give the 10-day grace period on tabs anymore.
Cops are generally fine with people hanging out in groups if they are doing so legally, i.e. not doing burnouts, racing, etc. A few years back a large group of us would gather a few times per week at the Krispy Kreme and/or Wendy's in Maple Grove and never once were we hassled. There was another group but they were always much louder, doing burnouts, racing, etc. and they were constantly hassled and kicked out by the cops. I think the best time ever is when we were all in the Wendy's parking lot and the cops made them leave but let us stay!

Whoa... You guys are dicks. I never said I didn't deserve the ticket, but the thing is that, he basically told me he wasn't going to give me a ticket, and then he still did, and thats totally unfair. And what makes him think I have more money to pay off a ticket. I never in that whole entire stroy said I didn't DESERVE the ticket. Anyone who speeds, does so, or at least youi would think, with the understanding that there's a good chance you will get a ticket for it. I'm not retarded, anyone who speeds deserves a ticket, and not a single one of you can honestly say you never speed. It happens, who cares. No reason to get your panties in a bunch about it. And I didn't have my seat belt on because I had just gotten my tattoo finished and I didn't want the belt to rub on it, however thats not something a cop would let slide, so thats why I put it on quick.
Not to make excuses or anything, but you would be suprised how easy it is to speed in a car like the Jetta. Unless you are constantly paying attention to the speedometer, it doesn't feel like you are going as quick as you are. But, obviously, thats not something that a cop or the hearing officer would fall for. But like in my Talon, I felt every bump, every gust of wind, so it was easier to realize how fast you were going. In the jetta, the ride is so smooth and quiet, you are doing 90 and think you're doing 70.
So stop hating on me, none of you are perfect angels either. Everyone gets ticket, BFD.

Nobody here is hating on your, Tauni. I am no perfect angel and yes, I have gotten tickets (none in over 3 years though), but I also don't bitch and blame when I did. All of these problems have been brought on by you or your friend, not society, not the cops, not us. Nobody made you speed, nobody told your friend not to pay his fine on time, etc. If you can't afford to get a speeding ticket, then very simply don't put yourself in a situation where you may get one. We aren't mean, we are real; I'm sorry if this upsets you but you did post up and doing so should expect a wide variety of responses from a wide variety of different individuals who come from different background and have different opinions/beliefts/morals. These varying opinions and thoughts is one of the great things about internet forums, you get to look at a situation from so many different angles.

Like I said, I am not blaming anyone. I posted the story because I thought it was an ironic twist of events. How could I blame anyone. That makes no sense. And he did pay the fine. Didn't you read that much? It wasn't all the way through the system, thats why it didn't show up. It happens.
As I said before, I was pissed because the cop basically told me he wasn't going to give me a ticket since I was bailing Steve out, not that I got the ticket regardless. I figured from the start I was going to be getting a ticket, but when the cop pretty much told me I wasn't getting one, then gave me one anyways, I was a bit upset. So none of what you are saying makes a bit of sense.

How did the cop tell you "you arent pretty much getting one?" Sounds like he wasnt very clear on that from the way you say it.
As far as the warrrant situation, seems like he didnt pay it on time and it was still going through the system. If he mailed it in I could see there being a delay, but usually if you just go in and pay, its a pretty fast process. Who knows maybe Im wrong on that one because Ive never had to go to court or pay a fine....
Thing is, he pulled you over for speeding, if Steve didnt have a warrant he might of let you go, possibly, but adding that to the equations makes a ticket for speeding alot more probable.
We arent hating on you, I just dont think you should expect sympathetic replies to your post. Especially when it seems like the cop was nice enough to let you go get money so your friend didnt go to jail.
And I dont really think a "jetta is quiet at high speeds" is a good excuse for thinking you werent speeding but whatever makes you feel better. :)
BTW I have yet to get pulled over in my 7 years of driving ;) Im an angel.

Wah Wah, pay the ticket and be done with it. We've all been there (well except Peter apparently). I got pulled over and ticketed in AZ because of speeding. And the only reason I was speeding is because I thought I heard a noise when I accellerated. So I quick hit it again, and walla, I managed to go 10 over the limit while doing that, and got a ticket. I didn't whine, I didn't go to court and fight it, I didn't go to some class, I just payed it.
Also, I've drive through TX on a few different occasions. When I had a radar detector, the thing never stopped beeping at me. If you're thinking 15 over is no big deal here, wait until you get to Texas. I was scared to do 5 over.

Oh wow. You guys, much as I love ya, you can be pretty rediculous at times. I'M NOT WHINING. For once. Get it through your damn heads! And Brandon, the cops in Texas don't pull you over unless you are driving like a jack ass, as in weaving in and out of traffic, tailing, etc. But speeding, they pretty much over look, as long as you aren't cruising down Dallas Parkway at 100 mph. You forget thats where I learned to drive.
And what the cop said was "All you need to do is run and grab the money to pay off Steve's ticket and I will let you both go."
You guys are rediculous if you HONESTLY believe I'm whining. I thought it was a funny twist of events and thought I would share it. Anyone who gets a ticket for speeding should know what was coming to them. I'm not fucking retarded.

They actually don't give the 10-day grace period on tabs anymore.
The cop in Bloomington clearly stated that I was two days past the 10 day grace period I was allowed. Maybe it's county to county? Or city to city? I thought it was state wide but I guess I'm not sure.

You can't generalize an entire state on "how they pull people over or not." It comes down to the cop and city. Some places are more lenient and some are more strict. Some cops are anal, some aren't. It seems like your whining because you keep getting offended. Why make a thread like this if you don't expect to get criticized.
