yea, it was sequenced charges, all triggered by electronics inside that little boat. I am kinda sad that it went down like that, since it does hold some personal family value, but i guess it's a good cause, and in going to pensecola like i do, i guess it brings me that much closer to a peice of history.

Pretty cool pics and story. One of the first things i thought of was, Have they ever heard of the term "recycle" ? There is a jazillion tons of steel there.

On a side note, they had a thing on Discovery tonight on the making of aircraft carriers. They take 7 years to build. The nuclear power plant can go upto 20 years without being refueled. It's an amazing process.

yep. there is such a thing as recycling. the navy has a ship graveyard, where tons of ships are stripped down, and docked side by side. they use parts off of them to repair a current ship, or they may even take a ship outta decommission and re-enlist it, as they did recently with operation iraqi freedom. then, it goes back to the graveyard, either to be destroyed, or broken down to repair another current fleet ship. submarines, aircraft carriers, destroyers, etc..I wanna go to this area someday..or even a naval base. I think it would be cool as hell to be on a small boat, next to a large as carrier or submarine.
