I know I can get by with just about anything out there and it will be plenty for my needs, better than the stock cams could provide anyway, but I just want to know how far I can go with cams until daily driving will be unbearable, I'm prepared to have a rough idle, but I don't want it to stumble and die at every stop light. I just want to go as far as reasonably possible with cams right now so that if I wind up going bigger in the future I don't want to have to turn around and buy another set of cams. I am not willing to install dual springs at this time.

My setup, if you need to know more just ask:
built 2.0 - 8.5:1 compression
head has a mild port job, stock valves, Crower springs and retainers
PTE GT3561
AEM EMS
stock manifolds

As of now I'm very interested in the FP cams, simply because of the price and their selection of grinds. I am not interested in the FFWD DKS cams, so don't bring it up. Simply stated, with FP having seven different grinds and having the setup I do, what would you experienced guys recommend me getting for cams? Thanks in advance!

I would (and probably am) going with the FP2's. They are fairly similar to 272's but have a bit more top end and less bottom end. In your case, I would recommend those or the FP2x's.

I have not run any of these, but since we talked about it at the dyno day I checked out their site and it looks like the FP2's would be the way to go unless you're looking to do upgraded springs. On the 2.0 and that turbo, you *may* want to consider stepping up so you can rev it out a bit. I'm in the same boat. Decisions decisions... Hopefully someone who as run some of these will speak up.

You should hit up eBay, Comp 101200's are the same grind as the FP2's and on eBay you can get new 101200's for like $360 shipped. I am going to be investing in some as soon as I get paid on Thursday day. If you guys buy them all before I get there I am going to have to kick some ass ;).

9guy9(luke) on here installed the FP3s on his built 2.4 last winter and it seems to still idle almost like stock. It has no drivability issues at all. I think he is around 8.5:1, using DSMlink, and running some AGP BB turbo.

Maybe he will chime in here but I am pretty sure I am correct with everything I said above.

What about the Comp 101300s? Are those, and anything beyond the FP2s getting into dual spring territory?

Not necessarily. You can get single springs from companies like Manley or Ferrea. Manley's are more cost effective. CVD had them and didn't have a problem with them.

Wait for the HKS 280s. You heard how great they sound on an Evo... I'm sure they sound just as shitty on DSMs. :)

any of the FP grinds are fine with mild springs (including stock)

its the FPx grinds that have the really steep ramps, and thus require baller springage.
