There are more differences between them than the color. My question was legitimate. Please stop posting.
My answer was legitimate too son. I was saying that there is more than 2 kinds of loctite. You made it seem as if you only thought there were two kinds. Want the exact strengths? I'll make it LEGIT ENOUGH FOR YOU.

Red - 262, high str
Green - 290, medium str, wicking grade
Purple - 222 low str
545 - thread sealant.

Don't have the specs on blue here at work. How much more legitimate do you want?

Dont forget that there are different levels of strength between the same colors too.

It is just a general rule of thumb that red is more permanent, and blue isnt.

I use the blue stuff and have taken them out after putting loctite on. I have had studs back out on 3 different occasions before loctiting them, none since I have done that.

I blow out the holes with air, spray it out with carb cleaner, then again with air. Then toss blue loc-tite on the threads and lightly snug down the studs with an allen wrench. I torque to 105 ft-lbs with ARP lube. Get much higher than that and you can run into stretching trouble. I still replace them once in a while.

thanks to jet for keeping the post ON TOPIC, lol.

I heard torquing them down to 105 would make the cylinders a little more egg shaped. That is what Mike used to say anyways. Maybe it doesn't matter that much though?
