It looks like you could get a pretty low mileage donor not too far away. If you go to www.car-part.com, there is one with 14,606 on it for $1200(st cloud), one with 36,000 on it for $900(albret lea) or one with 68K on it for $700(brainerd)

Holy hell man that sucks ass. I'm really sorry to hear that. I maybe a n00b and this could be normal, but jesus this has been a bad week for DSMs.

They were just going to put the IPT valvebody/shiftkit, End Clutch kit and Stall in, not rebuild the whole tranny internals!

Sorry to hear about the car Howie. Get a decent built up tranny and put a cooler on it and you should be fine. I know a few really fast auto guys from other boards. If you want a good opinion on exactly what to do to make it last send me your power goals and a full mods list and I will forward it to them and get some real world imput.

I used to have A/T AWD 2G as well and did a lot of research on how to make them not break so much. It not all that complicated, you just need to get the right brand and combination of parts and get it done professionally.

I also miss my DSM's sometimes, but its hard to sustain that envy when you here of them breaking all the time and not ever really living up to the potential a lot of them have. Makes you really respect the guys who race these cars and actually run good times and keep their cars together.

If I ever did own a DSM again and planned on making decent power and racing it. It would definetly be a auto. There are getting to be more and more autos deep into the 10s. Yeah they aren't as fun to drive but if you if you are always pulling trannies and adjusting/replacing clutches that isn't a whole lot of fun either.
