Smile Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

This a guy with a simular setup on EvoM that made 746whp on AMS's dyno.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-dyn...5-566-e98.html

I could be happy with this level of power, but I have a good feeling my car will make more.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

I could potentially have a spot in my room as my friend might be getting his own room to accommodate others.

Rooms are reasonable though, just book one!

My evo wants a go at your evo!

Man hell no... I think he bought the car from AMS with that garbage done, I’m shocked they didn’t put a Bosch 044 pump on the return too.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

This is one of the many reasons to have an EMS:

I hate the fact that I run a twin pump setup that has no fail safes. There are way too many things that can fail and result in a melted down engine, period. I’m running a full blown pump setup and for feedback I currently have an LED that illuminates when the second pump has power, it doesn’t mean that its working just that the harness has power to the second pump. At least this tells me that the Hobbs switch and relay are working.

I just implemented a setup to provide a indicator/warning from the EMS that is driven off of the AFR values during load levels and throttle position settings. I’m using a extra low side switch output from the ems to drive a loud buzzer to let me know if the conditions are not appropriate for WOT.

I’m keeping a mind map going of all of the modifications I have to the ECU from feature tuning to wiring changes.

With the new AEM Infinity systems, we should be able to build all kinds custom logic routines like that just in the software.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

What about if you used a shift that you could wire the ground to the aem and if your wide and reads 12:4 or higher it grounds the shift light so it turns on and you know one of the pumps are not working?

I have it working now, it uses the wide band AFR value, throttle position needs to be at least 95% and load needs to be more than 15 PSI, so the buzzer doesn’t turn on during spool up if the AFR is a little lean. It kicks ass, makes me feel a lot safer.

That's awesome you can do that with an aftermarket EMS, I had no idea you could implement your own routines like that. Very cool.

Do each of the pumps have their own check valve? If so, just put a pressure switch in the line pre-check valve maybe? Have the switch hooked up to a light or something. Its rudimentary, but would work.

Re: Mark's Evo IX MR Winter Projects

I drove my car about 60 miles today. It’s awesome to drive, has a good amount of power down low for normal driving. If feels like driving a 500WHP car, but its a wolf in sheeps clothing. The 4.11 gears are awesome too. The car likes to make boost and creep up. At wastegate pressure it was making 20psi around 4200 rpm by the time it hit 7500 it was at 33psi! I cranked the manual boost controller a couple of turns at a setting of 2 out of 10 so I thought it would be at 25 psi? While I was in the pull I was only concentrating on the AFR gauge and it was around 11.2-11.7ish. However, I didn’t realize that it was running 39.9psi!! The logs showed low knock voltage and the car seemed happy!
I directly copied the ignition and fuel tables from my 1G, I have the same injectors and then slightly modified the boost comp table. lucky!!! This thing rips.

37psi by 5k!

I know you said your goal was like 700-750 or something; did you have a specific boost level in mind, or is that of little consequence?

I wanted to end up at or around 40psi. I just wanted to get there in slow incremental steps, so the tune and the setup could be verified. So what I know now is that my ignition did not break up, the clutch did not slip, I have a little more fuel capacity and the boost looks stable at that pressure. This thing is an absolute blast to drive! Next step is to get it on a dyno for fine tuning.

Is that a 3rd gear pull? When are you seeing 25psi?

3rd gear, an estimate would be around 25psi at 4300. I will pull the log up tonight to check the actual #.
