Twin Disc Opinions
Powertrain Technology Twin Disc
Quarter Master Twin Disc
Other Brand... Exedy, HKS, etc.
Search – revealed there are a few of you who are / was running the Quarter Master Twin Disc. Powertrain Technology experience, anyone?
What are your thoughts and reflection? Would you purchase it again if you needed to? Or would you purchase another brand?

We are very happy with the QM and have used it in two 650whp+ cars. We chose it over the PTT based upon the disc material. I *believe* the QM is a ceremetallic material where the PTT is organic. The best part about the clutch is if it slips a little bit, heat it up some more and it goes away!
We are going to throw some more at it tonight and this weekend to see how well it does in excess of 709whp

Re: Twin Disc Opinions
Also, regarding the other brands Exedy is currently redesigning the 6 bolt twin disc as they didn't hold much over 400 ft/lbs and I have heard numerous horror stories in regards to the Clutchmasters so I would stay away from those two.
Carbonetics just released a full carbon twin disc for the 6 bolt application that looks to be an awesome piece, but it is VERY expensive.
And time for a shameless plug...
We also happen to sell all of these at some very competitive pricing

Re: Twin Disc Opinions
I've got a hybrid between the QM and PTT. Basically it's a QM twin rebuilt by PTT with their discs and TOB. It works very well and feels pretty similar to an ACT 2100. The bigger slave cylinder and PTT TOB are the keys to making it streetable. It was a lot more grabby with the shorter clutch pedal throw of the stock slave cylinder. I think you'd be happy with either QM or PTT, but opinions vary. It's the best clutch I've ever had.

Re: Twin Disc Opinions
I am running the QM and am very happy with it. It is pretty grabby though, but I haven't switched over to the larger slave yet, but I will soon. It has its good and bad points. The good is that you have a nice light pedal pressure for a clutch that holds lots of power. The bad is the grabby part makes it not as streetable.

What is the setup for the car, how much power, and how do you launch your car?

Re: Twin Disc Opinions
2.4l project underway...
I figure at the very least 400 hp w/ 50 trim variant...
I'm going to need a new clutch and flywheel...
So I'm just getting a feel for what locals are running.

I would like to be the first to say you won't need a twin disc then as there are plenty of single disc clutches that will hold that no problem.

Re: Twin Disc Opinions
Yeah, you don't need a twin disk yet, get a southbend.

What have people been able to make on the DSM southbends? Kyle had issues with the DXDSS before he even hit 350 ft/lbs...
We have run ACT 2600's to just over 400 ft/lbs at which time the street disc slipped, and the current 6 puck sprung is holding (kind of lol). Kyle ran a 2900 with both street and 6 puck discs and had slipping issues in the high 400 ft/lb range at which time we switched to the twin.

The larger slave takes care of that completely. It also eliminates the need for a pedal stop, at least on my car. Pedal travel is like stock and it's not very grabby, or maybe I'm just used to it.

Re: Twin Disc Opinions
While it may appear that I don't need a twin disc setup for my setup, a twin disc system does allow future expansion possibilities. Thanks for the input guys!
