To push, or to pull-that is the question...

I'n my quest for on-going performance, I recently purchased a fluidyne radiator, because my old one is quite leaky. As far as fans go, I'm contemplating on how to set them up. I want to know what really is better.

Do I a)install both fans up front, to hide them, and keep the engine bay a bit mroe clean, and use the fans to push air into the radiator, or b)put them both behind the radiator, visible, but to pull air through the radiator, and blow air onto the engine? I can't decide this time around, so any help? I COULD also do one push, and one pull, but I don't really know.

Pull configuration is the most efficient.

Usually with those aftermarket radiators, since they are thicker, I usually see people putting the fans up front and pushing.

I plan on putting my fans in front for clearance issues.

I would personally do a push setup to keep the engine bay cleaner and less cluttered.

Re: To push, or to pull-that is the question...

I was thinking of just keeping it as push, but then again i was also thinking of 1 push 1 pull. I don't know. I'll probably just do both as pushers.

Re: To push, or to pull-that is the question...

Has anyone ever found any non-biased tests for automotive fans? There are some Universities who do fan testing for agricultural applications and one would think that there would be a mechanical engineering department out there somewhere which would test automotive fans.

Re: To push, or to pull-that is the question...

That's more what I'm in search of Jakey. Of course both fans up front LOOK cleaner, but I want to know what actually FUCTIONS better. For example I know that fans as pullers, usually need 1/4" gap between them and the radiator to create a small "pocket" of fresh air the radiator sits in.
Other then that, I really don't know what works.
