Thumbs down o2 housing sealing problems..

Well after I fabbed up the rest of my exhaust. I was able to hear an exhaust leak I had. It was between the hot side on the turbo and the o2 housing. I decided to take a straight edge to both of them and apparently both of them are warped. So now what the hell do I do? Double gasket?
Double gasket + high temp rtv? Take them to a belt sander?

If they aren't too bad a new gasket will seal the deal.
Or machine them straight, plus a new gasket. Can't cost that much.

Re: o2 housing sealing problems..

I think I'm gonna try to double gasket. I had a single gasket in there and it definately did not seal.

If the flange is thick enough on the 02 housing, I would take a sander to it. Just make sure that you keep it flat and straight.

Re: o2 housing sealing problems..

It's a quarter inch thick so it should be fine. Now I just gotta find someone with a belt sander.. Haha. What's even more frustrating is non of the holes line up very well. I had to drill them out a lot just to get it to bolt down.

Re: o2 housing sealing problems..

I would find some place to machine it flat, but that's just me wanting to do it the right way.

I would assume any machine shop could help you out.

Belt sander and ultra copper, all a machine shop is going to do is toss it on a belt sander and charge you $40 for something you could do in 5 minutes.
