Gauging Interest: Evo VIII / IX Turbo Kit Around $1900

We have determined that we could assemble a turbo kit for around $1900 which would include the manifold, turbocharger, O2 housing to bolt to factory location downpipes, oil feed and return lines, waste gate, and dump tube. Turbochargers would be from a reputable manufacturer using garret components, journal bearing and range from 460 to 610hp.

My question is this, would you personally be interested in this turbo kit? We realize there are a lot of options out there from bolt on turbochargers to much more expensive turbo kits utilizing ball bearing turbochargers. Is there a place in this market for a budget turbo kit?

Thank you ahead of time for your input!

Absolutely. If you can keep it under $2k, you will be golden. ETS's 'super value kit' is one of the cheapest I've seen on the market at $2600:

Keep the price low, and people will come.

Definitely should be, all very good quality components. I'm just concerned about people going with an FP Red for about the same price simply for ease of install and similar power capabilities, am I off base here?

For that price, as long as it is a quality product that performs well, I'd say you'd have a market.

Especially if it is a T3 setup. I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd like to move past just a mitsu housed turbo. Going T3 opens up a lot options for future upgrades.

Cast manifold might be cool too

Thanks for the input sir. On EvoM I'm getting some hesitation based on the FP Red and Green turbos as they bolt on for about the same price and can make similar power, however you are correct about the upgrade options of the T3 setup...

There's a lot of truth in that. Package it with a hta86 for $2500 or so and get someone to run 140mph down the track or make 550whp or so on your dyno with decent spool/boost threshold, I'd even consider buying one

I think there would definitly be a market, ive been looking at fp reds but they have been having quite a few problems with less then good customer service.

i would consider buying a kit like that from you guys, assuming it spooled before 5k

Is the PTE 6262 a ball-bearing only turbo? If you could get it in journal-bearing format it would be ideal for this kit. People are running 9s and making 700whp on a mustang with them.

One thing to note: Slowboy/HAFE have cast components for doing a T3 turbo, and for whatever reason, they just suck. Fitment was poor, power lackluster, and spool slow and high. Take the time to make sure it performs awesome.
