Wish I had the money as it looks like a great bike for the money.

Good luck with the sale!

Thanks Brad.

Not perfect but it is a rider's bike. That being said it isn't one of the primer/plasti-dip, been crashed twice, craigslist specials.

I'll have it out at DCTC on Saturday if anyone wants to view it in action/hear it get some. (Maybe one day I'll be good enough to wield this weapon properly as it is greater than I)

Why not just buy track plastics and call it a day?

That is plan B. Safety wire this guy and buy track plastics. I'd rather swap out for a bike that is a little slower and I can learn to ride faster. Tires will eat me up but it will be fun.

Or if I could just borrow a bike for the August new rider's ride, I'd be set; haha.

Re: 2003 ZX6-RR

you're bike is older and you already own it so I would just track prep it, I've found its better to learn to go fast on something you already know how to ride, getting a new bike you'll have to relearn how it is set up and the quirks of it, setting up safety wire is not as hard as it sounds, and simply adding a good set of break pads to the front and having a nice set of rubber you'll be good to go, this late in the season I'd highly doubt you'll need anything crazy for tires, a set of bt003 or q3 would probably due you just fine, or talk with Brandon punt when you do cra and he'll get you pointed in the right direction, tire pressures is one of the biggest things to inspire confidence in you're ability on the track, I just ran at BIR with a set of mitchlen super sport evos front was at 24psi and rear was I think around like 16-20 psi, was my first time on a tire mostly for track use and after getting the pressures dialed holy hell did the stick like glue. If you're not already on the local forum I'd highly recommend getting setup on mnsbr and asking you're questions there, you're 600 set up correctly would definitely make a decent track toy.

Re: 2003 ZX6-RR

Also I've found with buying a used track bike is you just taking over someone else's bag of worms, it's best to start with a bike that is remotely fresh, you're bike may be an 03 but it hasn't really seen the abuse a track oriented bike has, most the time a track bike for sale has issues and most the time you won't find them till it leaves you standing on the fence watching everyone else fly by while you're bike is in the truck broken lol

Re: 2003 ZX6-RR

Good advise on prepping! I've thought about it and if I can't move it at the $3600 price then no deal. I would like to get something prior to the new rider day and actually mess with it at DCTC with ZARS mid August, so I am giving myself another 2 weeks to move this, then it is time for plan B.

I've thought really hard about track prepping this one. Safety wire and a belly pan is really all it NEEDS, clip ons, rear sets, etc are wants. If I do take the plunge to track prep it, I could sell the lights potentially to convert it. Last thing I would like would be some more track oriented tires as my 2CT's won't cut it. Worst part is I have drill bits and safety wire, I've been staring at them in my bedroom for 2 months. I agree that riding something hard you know is better than something new to you.

Maybe I'll start a part out thread on ZX6R to see if I can sell the lights and body plastics, then just flip this one over. Ugg decisions....
