Question Changing output shaft seal (with tranny in car)

Hey guys, I thought it was the tcase leaking but it appears to be the output shaft seal. I read somewhere that it can be changed without taking the tranny off. Tonight I got the old output shaft seal off and now waiting on the new one to arrive at my door. What a b*tch it was getting it out of there. No room to work hardly. I have a question in regards to putting the new seal back on. The output shaft is SO close to the teeth on the flywheel there is no way I'm gonna be able to just freely slide the oil seal on. Going in with it at an angle does not appear to help either. I practiced with the old one. The only way I can see to do it is to hold the outside of the seal and push it towards the shaft so it flatens out the inner & outer oil seal lips and then slide it on at the same time, while not damaging those lips and making this whole project a waste of time.

Any ideas, do I got the right idea?

Thanks.
