Back at Moroso tonight 1/27/06

Well tonight was an up and down night. Hit a new personal best MPH but that's about it.

Save alot of time here's the overview. - 3 trips down the track (and all the tuning I could get during those 3 trips)

Ended up getting me from 12.3@116mph to an

r/t =.788
60 - 1.960
330 = 5.243
1/8 = 7.846
mph = 96.72
1000 = 10.028
1/4 = 11.881
mph = 120.49

After that it was down hill. - next run I turned the boost up less then 1/4 turn and it went from 28psi - 35psi and had a really bad run gave up after having to shift back into 1st gear ran a 15 something

I changed spark plugs lowered the boost - and then tried again ended up running another 15 something after wheel hooping really badly. Somethings up now the car drove fine all the way home, shifts into all the gears just fine. But I noticed when trying to turn into my garage the car felt like it was binding.

I jacked the car up and noticed the front wheels spun a little bit (might have been tension in the AWD drivetrain) Anyrate and then did a boost leak test just to see if it was a blown coupler or something. Nope my Magnus SMI has a major leak in it. I haven't pin pointed it yet as it's coming from bottom side of the SMI. I think a weld might have broke or something. The #1 running already had a pin sized whole in it so maybe another weld was bad. It sounds like it's coming from the #3 runner. But like I said I haven't had the chance to put a light on it yet or really give the car a good once over.

Anyrate my 11.88 run was I'm pretty sure 30psi dropping to 28psi 116oct and about 54lbs/min.

Sweet runs, anything in the 11's is a good run.

It sounds like your center diff might be on it's way out. If it's binding around corners, something is keeping the VC from doing it's job.

What did I get for you Brian, a center diff or rear diff?

Re: Back at Moroso tonight 1/27/06

a rear diff

my last run i lowered my launch rpm to 5750 hopeing i wouldn't spin as much. I wheel hopped for the first time...badly

after that when ever i get on boost I can feel alot more slop in the drive train then ever before. sometimes i hear a thud coming from the rear right when the boost kicks in...as if something came loose. i know i have bad springs in the rear to start with, maybe i blew a shock from all the wheel hoping. In a few days i should be able to check it over.

but for sure there is now a big leak coming from my smi/smi area

Re: Back at Moroso tonight 1/27/06

Alright just got done doing a quick once over.

1)To start off the leak coming from the SMI wasn't the SMI. The pressure line from the intake going to my FPR silinoid that's attached to the fire wall came off.

2)I spun the rear tires and noticed that when you spin 1 the other doesn't move as much (not sure if there independent or not) but each one does spin as well as turns the drive shaft, and the other tire does turn but not as much... maybe it's just gearing or slop not sure. However I did noticed the rear diff rocks back/torques when you turn the wheels probably has a good 1" play in it.

Also I spun the front tires and noticed that the rear wheels spin as well so hopefully that means everything is working normally. I haven't tried turning the wheel all the way to 1 side yet to see if it binds up. I haven't gotten under the car yet to see what exactly is loose in the rear diff if anything. But who knows all the jerking/wheel hopping could have loosened a bolt or something that holds it in place.

I'm just lucky the pressure line didn't come off at the top of a run. It came off during 1st gear.
