Ground Control coil overs...

Anyone use the ones that you couple with like, tokico shocks at all?

I've been looking for a set of shocks and springs and I kind of like the idea of the adjustability and the not 1200+ for a set of full on coilovers.

Comments, concerns, flames?

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

I had them with KYB AGX shocks and didn't much care for them. I'd much rather get a nice set of lowering springs on quality shocks.

Unless you're willing to spend $1,800+ then skip coilovers.

Probably the same "not too bad" as the junk K-Sport coilovers.

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

Save yourself the headache and get some nice shocks (KYB or Tokico) with some nice springs. Cheap coilovers are not worth the headache.

I've seen people with good luck on the BC coil overs also. Still under $1000.

The Ground Controls use Eibach springs, so they can be decent and you can change the springs. They are kinda a build it yourself coilover setup.

Just get a nice set of springs and shocks. You will be much happier with the ride, less headache.

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

TEIN S-Techs are total crap. They are a dressup/lowering spring only, not for performance at all.

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

Well that's what I get for listening to the guys on my.is.

Suggestions for a better spring that will offer a performance upgrade but not make me hate life during my hour commutes from home and work?

I was thinking of between an 1.5" - 2" drop. No more. Deff no less.

H&R? Eibach?

Koni Yellows def. seem to be the top notch stuff for shocks.

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

Are koni yellows the ones with the adjustable perch? Because I heard some bad reviews about them due to noise complaints from the perch being loose (again from the my.is guys).

I've read solid reviews on the Eibachs, and they were my first choice for awhile.

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

Koni just makes the shock/strut, any sort of adjustable spring perch would be aftermarket such as what Ground Control makes.

Get a spring with a progressive rate, you'll thank us later.

Re: Ground Control coil overs...

Eibachs are probably the best bet for Ride quality, they are a little soft. I love mine for daily driving but for more stiffness and possibly more drop, go H&R. Had those on the M3 and they were a bit stiffer.

Yup, I agree, both are great quality springs. You can also check out Swift's offerings.
