Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

well did some more work today on the car. As I had the weekend off.

I stripped a lot of the brackets and repainted them, along with the hood prop, as well as polished up the letters on the valve cover and the FP intake.

I really wanted to do the brake and clutch resiviour brackets but couldn't get the bolts off that clamp against them (the metal would twist but not budge the bolts)

Any rate here are picts.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

well got tired of my cold start issue, started digging in the garage and found a multi meter.

Since installing the new ISC I got shipped from what I call the dsm graveyard in NC as he has over 200 dsm up there. The ISC had been logging 100-120 at idle with the biss screw turned out 2 turns from close. Had horrible cold start issues which I thought was caused from the "free FIAV" mod I did.

Well checked the coils on my old ISC and all of them per https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KibYz21IMA0
all the coils came out perfect, so checked the new ISC that was on the car and turns out 2 of the coils are bad. Swapped ISC sensors, set the biss screw to 2 turns out.

started the car/logs - came in at 40 once car was warmed up, so minor turn of the biss screw and its now sitting at 30 with a perfect idle once again from cold - warm up. No longer have to hold the gas for a bit till it gets warm.

Next things on my list are injector cleaning and fuel filter replacement (I still get a random hickup once and a while after cleaning the filter... nothing like before which is good.
Between now reading that my injectors when running E85 are really prone to clogging with anything other then a 10 micron filter. I think its just best to get them cleaned (supposed to be done anyways every 3-4 months with E85 and there is no telling when the last time the previous owner had it done) and replace filter with a 10 micron one.

Run a few tankfuls of quality premium gasoline with high levels of detergent (Chevron, Shell, & BP) with a bottle of Chevron fuel injector cleaner additive and you'll be set.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Well was bored today and went out to the garage to find something to do, and here is what happened after another oil change, and coolant flush (wanted to clean up the thermostat housing).

Opinions? (i'd have to do more work, and find the correct pushpins to make it all permanent and line up right, along with paint but was curious what the talon door piece would look like as well as added the stock eclipse sideskirt, since the holes where already there, only part I didn't add was the plastic panels at the bottom of the door)

I'm not sure which way I like better:
1) way it was
2) complete 2g stock look
3) with eagle door pieces

edit: also side note for Kracka - I'm on my 2nd tank with Fuel injector cleaner, so far so good. (had 1 spell briefly during the first tank after a 1-4th gear pull but nothing since)

2gb eclipse front with 2gb eclipse sideskirt. 2gb talon with 2gb side strikes plus talon side skirts. No mix and matching between eclipse and talon. It looked great from factory and should stay that way.

Those door moldings look good as long as you have the matching Talon bumpers. Otherwise they look out of place.

Agreed. Eclipse OR Talon, not both.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Well small update:
I blew out the exhaust manifold to turbo gasket, and a while back the head to my biss screw crumbled to pieces.

So I went ahead and ordered a few things while I was at it in preparation for upcoming installs.
Today in the mail I recieved:
-new biss screw
-new biss cover cap
-black triple a-pillar pod
-remote oil sending pressure sending unit line
-the gasket I needed.

I will hopefully be ordering the aem oil pressure gauge here shortly. Been trying to find one used but so far its been nothing but unanswered emails or texts. Or already sold. Will update with picts tonight.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Well sunny day today, woke me up early and the little one was kind enough to sleep in, so since the wife went to the coffee shop I decided to head to the garage.

Installed:
-remote Oil pressure line
-AEM digital Oil pressure gauge (read 80psi cold start, then sat at 20psi warm idle)
-3 gauge A-pillar pod (was going to move my WB and Boost gauge but decided not too)

although the picture of the wire is before I ran it through the boot. It's actaully ran through the boot and through the same places as my AEM WB.

Am very happy to now have a working oil pressure gauge.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

The stock threads are BSP which is a very unusual size, so I would guess the first one is a BSP to NPT adapter, then a T-fitting from there for the gauge and turbo feed.

It's a little scary having your oil lines completely exposed on the bottom of the car like that. They look low, but I guess it's probably still above the oil pan.

RTM racing sells BSP adapters if you need. I think autometer does too.

Please get that oil line mess cleaned up, that is just asking to be taken out by debris on the road. I'd be more comfortable w/o an oil pressure gauge that having that hanging low and vulnerable.

That "T" fitting has been there since i bought the car.

All i had to do was unscrew the bad OEM sensor and put in the AEM one in its spot (using the remote line of course) I'd guess it is about 4-6" higher then the oil pan and down pipe.

But you never know something odd could swing up there and take that out. It would have to go through the oil filter first as the filter is about even with the bottom of the oil line, oil pressure sensor line.

Pictures are at a bad angle, I can take different ones if need be when I"m removing the turbo this weekend.

I do plan to do something about it come taxes. I plan to run and External Oil cooler and at that point I'll address the issue. I have thought about possibly running a Moroso Oil pan which I've read helps with the dsm oiling issue for Road racing cars. And the pan has ports for oil pressure, and Oil temps if I'm not mistaken (been a few months since I was looking at them)

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

IMO, take this opportunity to correct someone elses mistake. Just because it's higher than the lowest point doesn't mean it can't be hit. For example, Scheides had a crank pulley sheered off by a chunk of ice after it bounced off his oil filter. Those lines could easily get hooked by a rouge tree branch laying in the road.

Relocate that mess higher in the engine bay, it will be a lot safer.
I hate having that OFH there.
