Hooligan

So, I have an actual DSM now. 1992 Talon TSI AWD. The plan is for this to be nothing other than a "fun" car. Ice "racing", TSD rallies, AutoX, RallyX, whatever. Just have a good time forking around with it.

Build details so far:
Healthy 6 bolt motor, 150+ compression across the board. Stock parts.
Big 16G
Oil to Air oil cooler
Guessing it has a bigger fuel pump, if not, at least it's hot wired.
stock side mount
550cc? injectors
SAFC
2G MAS
Greddy Profec B? old school, need to see if it still works and has all the bits

Needs a bunch of work. Most of the interior was removed due to rodent destruction. Will most likely be getting 2 aluminum racing seats and 4 or 5 point harnesses.

Oh it went years ago and came back. It has been "in storage" for probably 10 years now.

Yup, it's that one. Progress has been slow but steady since Matt (not a member) and I did the initial wash down and clean up. Think I still need to take some soap and water and scrub the inside, still stinky.

Re: Hooligan

"Progress" check.

I found a key! A good start. This thing really just needs a solid day in the garage and it should be running.

I bought a few things from Brownman. Seats, small FMIC, power steering pump mount, plug wires, CAS,

The FMIC will probably be a phase 2 thing, I want to get it running with a decent set of snow tires on it first.

SCCA has a TSD rally February 6th in Rochester, I'm going to make this my target date to have the car running.

List of stuff to do:
Scrub inside of car, still stinky...
Install seats and seat belts
Remove and clean fuel rail
Install and hookup fuel rail
drain fuel - 13+ years old, don't know how much is in it. Not much I hope
New fuel
Clean Turbo inlet, check IC piping for junk
Install "new" plug wires
Check trans and T case fluids
Check brakes? Should be decent
Find a working ECU - have three, hope one works
Install SAFC II - old school
Install 2G MAS / intake
Buy/install tires (snow tires, I have a set of wheels with Hankook RS3's for summer, just need to pay the chump team for them)
Summewr wheels and tires:

Radiator + fan(s)
new oil cooler fitting, check install
timing belt covers
power steering bracket and pump install
put exhaust on
Oil change
Shift cables and speedo cable hookup
Clamps on IC pipes
Power steering pump drive pulley - I don't recall seeing one behind WP pulley

I'm sure there is more to do, but that's what I can think of for now.

So far, this car is coming back from the forgotten via MistuStyle and NAPA.

Should be fun.

Re: Hooligan

Here we are 4 years later. I'm sure some of you have seen posts from me looking for parts and stuff. I've been working on this POS recently. It's so close, but so far from running. Drivetrain is in place, needs a bit of work in the fuel pump department (currently handled by turning a jump box on and off to run the pump, due to busted ground wire).

Engine has compression 120-150psi on all cylinders. Not 100% awesome but should run. Timing marks all line up every time I check them. It's had 660's and 720's in it with stock and a chipped EPROM ECU. It shows signs of life and been soo close to running. Also installed an SAFCII recently. Gotten it to run for 10-15 seconds, rev to 2500 ish, idle for 3-5 seconds a few different times. But it just doesn't to anything consistently. Checked for spark and haven found any issues on that side either.

Does anybody have a working data-logger for a 1G I could borrow? Or a set of stock 450CC injectors? Looking to eliminate variables before I start this thing on fire.
