repairing bumper holes?

I've been playing around with a few different things, bolts, plugs, various epoxies, etc to fill the old holes left from the OEM license plate frame (fracking dealer). Havent found anything that quite does the job.

What are y'all using for bumper repair/hole filling? A new unpainted bumper cover straight from Mits is only $225 list but if I can get this done for $50- it saves a load of $$$ for other projects.

????? and thanks!

Re: repairing bumper holes?

If it was me i would just take a tiny bit of bondo and push it into te crew holes if they are small, then use touch up paint. not 100% but close

Re: repairing bumper holes?

Paint isn't my worry. It's the 'sitckiness' of a repair, will it last a few winters, no bubbling or more cracking, etc, etc. These different urethane bumper compounds are a PITA to patch/repair properly.

Yeah, bondo is for metal, no good on bumpers. You need something with a lot of give.

Re: repairing bumper holes?

Bondo just doesnt like our urethane-ish bumper covers too much is all. Been there, tried it, broke it several times.

Wait... what is your bumper cover made of?

Re: repairing bumper holes?

4G Eclipse bumper covers are thermo-set plastic. I"m looking at some Fusor 114 for the eventual fill/repair but really wanted the crowd here to chime in on the subject.

Maybe they have something to offer you. Shoot them an email and a picture and I bet they can make a recommendation.

Re: repairing bumper holes?

bumperplugs.com is Porsche-centric but their pics give you a good idea of what they've worked out.

I've had their stuff on my S2k and Evo, my dad's GTO, and my fiancee's Subaru.
