97 talon gsx

1997 eagle talon tsi awd
Bought this car from a friend without an engine. A year and a half later I have it running and driving. Car is originally from az. Right now it has 81,518k and miles will stay down as this is not a daily driver. ABSOLUTLEY ZERO RUST. Previous owner traded someone their eclipse body work for the original talon body work. Missing side strakes. Some clear coat imperfections on the top of driver door and top middle of the hood. Looks good from 10ft. Some dings and dents here and there. right now running a 1g cas with harness so it misfires while driving. Dsm link and a tune would take care of this. All machine work and assembly up to short block status was done by motors by gosh. Not really sure how much the car is worth. Kinda just testing the waters. Would love to keep it but I feel like it will just be another money pit (which I have a few of). if you are interested i live by the albervile outlet mall. feel free to come and take a look. i have all receipts from map and jon.

looking to get 5k

Thanks

Re: 97 talon gsx

I dont get why some guys post one picture. Especially of the very front of the car. You did a good job on the description of the car then fail in the easiest part of the whole thread

i understand your pain. this is literally the only good pic i have right now. plus i was at work, also i figured if anyone was seriously interested they would probaly want to actually come and look at the car. i just made sure i included one pics so people get the idea of what the car looks like.

Re: 97 talon gsx

I personally don't think it's that high. In fact I'd loved to buy this as a beautiful car to eventually move to when my shell isn't to my standards anymore. I think it's just a tough time when nobody has money to drop on a nice car that they wouldn't wanna drive in the salt.

Well worth the asking price. For once a realistically priced 2g. Clean title?

The intake pipe is pluged. The bov is under the intake pipe. It was like that from the owner before.

Re: 97 talon gsx

Two things I noticed. I don't see an airfilter (although I can't tell what thatb is attached to the intake.
And 2nd is the radiator overflow just a 20oz bottle?
Other then that I am shocked how clean the paint is in yhe engine bay.

Was any of the car resprayed?

Re: 97 talon gsx

i like the location in the fact that you dont see it in the engine bay. the turbo xs h type valve is located on the intercooler pipe coming out of the intercooler. next to the fan. personally i didnt like how close to the ground it was cause shit could get in the valve potentianlly. so i put some nice screen on it.

silicone plug in the recirc hole. all holes on the turbo intake are plugged.

yes it is just a viatamin water bottle. works great. doesnt overflow and isnt all sucked out when the car cools.
the car has never been resprayed. although from what i can tell it looks like when the previous owner swapped body work for the eclipse stuff they paint the eclipse body work to match the paint on the car. the orig paint is what you see on the doors hood fenders. looks like they alsop filled the holes for the wing and painted the hatch. the whole car looks great the biggest dent is on the rear quarter by the gas cap.
the air filter is something i came up with. it is pre filter material made by outerwears, with some stainless screen behind it held on with a big hose clamp.

i want to be fair and disclose everything. has someone come and look at it and his main concern is the car starts to misfire when crusiing due to using the 1g cas with harness to trick the ecu to think it has two sensors. but when cruising under consistant throttle somtimes it starts to misfire. throw it in neutral and let it idle down. toss it back in the proper gear and it goes away. if you vary the throttle it works just fine. i have the 97-99 sensor setup and cams but i haev yet to put them in cause not sure if its worth my time cause if i keep it i would run a slightly different turbo and have it tuned with the neccesary mods. i had the harness and 1g cas so thats what i used to get the car going. i literally finished this car and got it running and drivng this fall.
feel free to txt me with any questions.
je was also concerned about the cel. which is caused by not having any emmisions stuff and no rear 02.

Re: 97 talon gsx

ok i want to be clear about the cas issue.
1. i am running the 1g cas cause the harnes on the car has the 1 g cas plug on it. this is how it was when i bought it.
2. i am running the 1g cas cause my bro in law had one laying around
3. i have the whole 97-99 cam and crank sensor setup including plug needed for harness.
4. no reason fo rme to install the 07-00 sensors as if i keep it i will up the boost and get a tune. then this isssue will not matter.

thanks fo the input guys

still looking to sell.

need to fund a cfi swap in my sled as its down right now.
