clutch probs
I am having some serious clutch problems with my 90 eagle talon. The clutch will not disengage. I have welded the clutch pedal assembly, i have used the master cylinder rod extension, i have checked the flywheel to make sure that it is within spec, i have also tried bleeding the clutch for a really long time. I have also replaced both the master and the slave cylinder. nothing seems to work. My question to you guys is, is there a difference in a 90 eagle talon clutch and a 91 VR4 clutch. I purchased an RPS clutch and that didnt work so we went with the ACT and we are still having the same Problem. When i ordered the clutch I ordered it for a 90 thinking there isnt a difference. If anyone knows what is going on please let me know because i am clueless.
Thanks

Re: clutch probs
The pressure plate changes half way through 91...... so that might be your issue. I'm not sure as to what but they are different parts numbers. I hope that helps.

Re: clutch probs
I have the exact same problem you have and I have done everything short of replacing the clutch PP as well. Everything down to shimming the ball and replacing the fork... so now I will buy a new clutch (not ACT) and see if that is the cure.
You better make sure about the difference in years.

Re: clutch probs
I will call southbend tomorrow and see if they know anything about the difference in 90. All of the aftermarket clutches use the exedy hard parts with their own friction material, springs etc. Some grind off the markings (ACT) most don't, that is why they all still have the same symbols on them. The Exedy is the OEM for MItsu clutches as well.

Re: clutch probs
The guy from ACT said they have used the same pressure plate from 89 to 99.

Re: clutch probs
Ok........first, all 89-99 Turbo clutches are the same. AWD/FWD....doesn't matter. They ALL interchange.
Second.......drop your tranny and please make sure that you have the disc installed correctly. I don't want to embarass someone.....I have actually done it my self.....But it reallllyyy sounds like you got the disc backwards. The flat side of the disc should face the flywheel. Then, make sure you are getting the disc aligned with the pilot hole.
Or if you really feel like you installed it correctly, try this:
Does the clutch fork extend fully? If it does, drop the tranny and find out what's wrong because ALL your hydraulics are working properly. It's either clutch fork, TB, clutch, etc.
If it doesn't extend fully, it could still be in the clutch but you probably have a failure in the hydraulics or clutch pedal.
Simple.....get started.

Re: clutch probs
All the clutches we have seen for DSM's are pretty much impossible to have the disk in backwards. The hub will bottom out in the flywheel way before you could ever have the bolts on the pressure plate seated. On another note, have you been replacing the throwout bearing as well so there is not a question there. One other possibility that will make you cringe but is entirely possible. If this is a 1G, the thrust bearing could be far enough off that the clutch wouldn't dissengage. due to excessive crankshaft movement and not enough travel on the throwout bearing to compensate. A 1G could have this problem due to the fact there is no crank sensor to scream about the crank moving excessively. So on that note check the end play. Sorry Peter, you probably should as well.

Re: clutch probs
Let us know, I am a bit curious if that may be the problem.
