Beater 2g Round 2

Just picked up an auto '96 Talon TSi awd from a member on here. Figured I'd make a project thread, even if it is kind of boring.

Mods:
16g
Evo9 injectors
SAFC
FMIC
HKS 272 cams
Evo valve springs/retainers
1g bov
Intake
3" exhaust
High flow cat
18" wheels/tires

Nothing crazy as far as mods go but should make for a perfect daily/beater. I think it made like 280ish at DB in shoot out mode on pump gas. Don't plan on going too crazy with it either until I get a house and another car, so it'll be a while before I can do anything super fun to it.

Future Mods (hopefully by spring). Just going to keep my eye out for good deals on these items and probably install once it gets warmer.
Lowering Springs/Struts or a set of coilovers
Get it tinted
Maybe 1000cc injectors or there abouts, whatever I can find a deal on - DONE
DSMLink - DONE
Test pipe
Wideband
Different boost gauge that has a light
Maybe another pair of front seats as these ones are pretty beat
Maybe black out the headlights
Maybe try throwing on the 2ga spoiler to see if I like it better - just keeping it wingless despite all the holes. Maybe just keep my eye out for a good deal on a hatch.
Paint side mirrors to fix the common dsm paint fade
haha and maybe other little things

Already tinkering with it

Current engine bay picture. It now has an upper timing cover on it. Really want to clean up the engine bay a bit too

Interior after a some cleaning. It really needed it

Playing around with an extra headlight to see if I would like the headlights blacked out or not...

Thats about it. Thanks for looking!

^You will miss it once it traps 130s

If u feel any bit of slipping or flare during shifts i would up the line pressure, i did mine right away to prevent any issues.

I'd say leave the wing, headlights, get 2gb rear bumper, and the side moldings.

I don't feel it slipping, I've only gotten on it twice though. I'll look into it though. Is there any adverse affects?

haha yea we are kind of like twins now If you don't want those seats I wouldn't mind buying them back for whatever I sold them to you for. Center counsel is pretty good actually and the seats are the only thing that needs some attention. Maybe I can pick em up when that motor of yours is ready to be put together or if you're in the area I'll trade you beer for delivery

I've always had a soft spot for the 2ga side moldings. Only time will tell though, I'm a sucker for not spending money on looks so it might just stay how it sits currently haha

Re: Beater 2g Round 2

Yea thats just an air freshener, the vanilla reminds me of the black car, just need that oil smell and it'll be just like my old black car haha.

No rush on the seats at all, they are ok for a daily and if they really bug me I can swap in the kirkey in a few minutes. Thanks for the offer though, I really appreciate it!

Yes, blue wire mod for the win. It makes it so much funner and it's easier on the trans.

Re: Beater 2g Round 2

Been daily driving this thing since picking it up and so far so good. Turbo is so small and with this auto it is so hard to try and stay out of boost to try and get decent mileage. Still has some rattles I'd like to fix but a great car so far.

Picked up another valve cover tonight and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. I've got a buddy that is staring up a powdercoating so I'm going to have him coat it I just need to decide what to do. I was thinking maybe wrinkle black on the cover and then white on the letters to keep with the black/white theme. Or do that black valve cover/white letters and shave the lines off of it. Or shave the valve cover and get it coated a random candy color. Too many choices haha. What would you guys do?
