Shaking/Rough idle

My 1990 Galant LS shakes while its stopped but is still in drive. If I put it in neutral it stops shaking. I paid attention to the RPM's and they are at about 750 idling in drive, and only go up to about 800 in neutral. Shane suggested it could be motor mounts? Any other theories?

Re: Shaking/Rough idle

Does it feel like the engine or the tranny? I would check plugs and wires.

Re: Shaking/Rough idle

Steve said it has new wires. However, on the tranny note, and forgive me because this is going to be hard to explain, my shifter moves in gear. No matter what gear its in, or in park, it moves, without shifting gears. You can shake it either way. So I dunno if that has anything to do with.

I agree with shane. Check your motor mounts.
