Question Need Fidanza flywheel Help

I bought my '99 GSX used and it has a Fidanza flywheel in it. I'm replacing the clutch so i thought i would replace the fidanza replacement flywheel centersection. I put a new one on and had my brother tested it several times with a dial indicator. He was coming out .598-.602. RRE says specifically .609-.612. I never heard of machining the fidanza. Can someone help me please on what they recommend.

Thanks.

Re: Need Fidanza flywheel Help

Are you sure there aren't any burrs or junk under the new friction surface?

Re: Need Fidanza flywheel Help

I degreased it in the parts washer and washed it good with soapy water. We measured the old friction plate prior to taking it off and it was about .610". That plate had 30-40k miles on it, so naturally a new plate is gonna be thicker thus having a shallower number. I'm gonna have to call RRE and see what they say.

Re: Need Fidanza flywheel Help

Ok, i took the friction plate off the fidanza last night cleaned it really good and double checked everything. It's good. Put it back on and checked it. From the very outter edge to about 1/4" in, it's .603-.605. From about From past that 1/4" to the inner surface, it's .610-612".

You all think that will be ok, the 1/4" on the outter?

That should be fine. ACT clutches don't tend to wear evenly anyway.
