Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Almost completed my first tank of gas, I am going to try and get the driver's wheel bearing done and then it should be solid for the cruise coming up.

Today I put in my front dash speakers and I put 6x9s in the rear deck lid, but I am still not happy with the way it sounds, so I'll just be putting in some in the stock location and a sub :O(

I was hoping to not have to use a sub, but oh well. DSMs just don't have good sound quality.

Mechanically, I wired up my "power box" aka a small fused power supply panel that also contains connectors for grounding so that all electrical items added to teh car can be centralized and individually fused I am really happy with it.

I have some autometer gauges on the way, I changed my mind from 2 5/8" to the normal 2 1/16" (my wife actually said the smaller ones will look nicer and not out of place as well) Plus I couldn't find the ones I needed in 2 5/8" and in 2 1/16" to have all the same style gauges.

All that is left is to get the money I'm owed back into my car account and order a WB and if there is $$$ before the cruise/end of season maybe some FIC BM1450s.

Oh stock injector duty cycle at 7psi was over 100%, lol.

Pics tomorrow I know I'm slacking on that end.

Are those the stock Auto injectors? Like 390 or whatever the heck they are...

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

They are actually 450s, as far as I know it should of been 390s, but this parts car had a 14b and 450s on it so yay me.

Onto the pics i've been slacking on.
Hmmm no more single piston on the front. (Needs moar SS line though)

What kept me a little busy last week.

Not really a great pic. (i'll get a better one later)
But this is my power distribution block, where every additional electrical item will be provided fused power and a ground so that everything is in one place neatly. Will be labelled later.

You know I couldn't roll stock.

I thought I had a better pic of this:

My explanation on what i deemed a failed experiment, every car that has a solid rear/sealed deck on the back with speakers sounds awesome so i thought I would stick those sick ass infinity kappas back there, well I wasn't impressed and I think its because I didn't seal it 100% so I'm gonna say screw it and stick my type Rs in the stock location.
Also the metal stock brackets aren't as heavy as I thought so they can stay, I just need to figure where I am going to install my sub as it is a kicker solo baric 10" in a truck box so its a little tall.

Update from here, well I need to put in those alpines, pickup some 6 1/2"s for the doors. I'm going to be calling O'reillys here in a min for my wheel bearing and hopefully have all of that done before this weekend.

Oh, my gauges will be here on wed. afternoon so I am planning on getting those in and getting some pics.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

sweet man this cars coming along pretty well and pretty fast!!

and maybe the computer doesn't know its 450's and not the stock 390's so it doesn't know any better? idk if the computer can tell if you have bigger injectors or not just my thought lol

Nice dude, when this thing is 16g'd out I want a ride, since I'm not gonna be getting a taste of automagic myself.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

I have installed the new ball joint on the drivers side, my first time using a ball joint press, pretty simple.
I'm waiting for a friend to press in a new wheel bearing since he has access to a press, so car is in the air right now.

A little sneak peak preview of the gauges, I need to install the senders for the right 2 gauges.

I love it can't wait to get back on teh road, my LC1 wideband should be at my house tonight so I can see what AFRs produce 107% IDC

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Ok, so you have the gauges where the climate control knobs go, the climate control knobs where the radio goes, and the vent space open right now. Are your plans to put in an aftermarket single DIN deck under the climate knobs and put the vent back in stock location then? That would be a cool setup, I haven't seen one quite like that in a 1g.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

The vent was just out to take out that whole panel.
My stereo is already installed under the hvac controls, I would love to say this is my idea, but it isn't a guy that is basically doing a resto mod of a flawless white 1G did it first and gave me permission to try it, I will have to clean it up as time goes along because as with everything you don't really know how to do it until you have done it or till its too late.
I'll get better pics once its back together again.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Did you do that Outlander upgrade on the brake rotors, or just the 2G rotors? I just read about that yesterday, pretty cool upgrade, really cheap if you're going from single piston calipers.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

I looked into it and then i just said screw that, too much hassle and I couldn't find any as cheap as people were saying, I got my 2G brakes for $50.

I thought about it a little bit and I thought that trying to get anything above parts store rotors would be tough for an outlander but easy for a 2G.

I love that gauge location. rookdsm I think was his sn on dsmtalk? Anyways, the car is going to be really nice now with the wideband and gauges there.

Whats the deal with the Outlander rotors? Thicker?

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Right now I'm waiting to get my hub back from a friend that works at the local tires plus(they have a press) to put in my wheel bearing, but he has had it all week and with this nice weather it is killing me.

Anywho if anyone has access to a press to get this done for me I would appreciate it.
