my subaru rally project
I daily drive a 91 galant vr4 (second one I've owned - previous was a a 92, both white) but since it's stock I figured about the only interesting thing I could contribute here regards a subaru
A year and a half ago my STI looked like this
then I got bored and strapped a bunch of lights onto the front. From there things kind of snowballed
I added a primitive racing front skid plate and rear diff protector next
then I got some ksport rally spec gr coilovers and lifted the car about 1"
(pictured next to my bc's)
then I addd a corbeau fx1 pro and some more lights lol
got so sick of how shitty the ksports were so I switched to tokico dspecs and stock usdm sti springs
I got rid of my brembos, added some 06 wrx (group n) 4/2pot brakes and some 15" team dynamic pro rally 1 wheels w/ advan rally tires
then I partially gutted it, added a cobra imola s and some harnesses
decided to cut a whole in the roof because 1 scoop is never enough
added a removable hub and sparco steering wheel and applied bedliner to the wheel arches - they were getting destroyed by rocks. Then I finished gutting it and pulled out the main harness (we then proceeded to dismantle the entire harness and elimate all uneccessary components)
that's when things got serious
dropped the gas tank (not a fun job) to patch some holes in the sheetmetal
riveted block off plate
masked off for paint

i need it to run in Rally America's Open Light class (the only way a novice license holder can campaign an awd car). eventually I will move to super production/open and go back to the turbo powerplant

yea, "downgrade" brakes, remove turbo, add weight - it's a real performance car

Re: my subaru rally project
Ahh so you're the dude she scored the seats from. Next you should convert to AT so you can hook Emily up with your 6-speed.

Re: my subaru rally project
You think it's awesome in pics, you should see it in action. It's total sex ripping through whatever non-tarmac surface you can think of.
This car is one of the main reasons I photograph the rallyx events, no joke.

Re: my subaru rally project
Carl's car is pretty badass. Not sure that is the direction I would go if I had an STI, but mad props to you for sure. Best of luck with the Rally Cross this year.
