Porting the oil relief with BSE?

I am putting in a balance shaft eliminator kit, I have read that I need to port my oil relief valve or else I will have really high oil pressure...Can someone please link me to how to do this or explain this.

I say BS. Just take out the old bearing, put in anew one and use the new bearing to block off the oil hole. (AKA DO NOT LINE UP THE HOLE IN THE BEARING WITH THE HOLE IN THE BLOCK). Lots of people do this, I have personally. Oil pressure according to factory gauge is normal.

Yup. I had steve hill port mine a bit, just because he had done it a few times and i had exactly zero experience with the process.

Lots of documentation out there how how much to port and where.

Have you tried searching on the national boards?

In the oil filter housing you will see a "peephole" where you can see a spring and a piston, that is usually the hole that people port.

I have a little higher oil pressure but don't see any negative results yet...

Same here, 10psi at idle, healthy if you ask me.

The manual says no lower than 11psi at idle.. Mine is at 15 the lowest usually 19.

hey guys, I have read on some boards that too much oil pressure can wash out the bearings in your engine, is this true?

I have no squirters or BS. My stock gauge read normal. When I installed the aftermarket gauge I was getting 120psi by 6500. I ported the relief valve as much has I could. I now sit at about 15-20 at idle and 80 at 7500.
Point is stock gauges are more of a guide line and are not accurate for reading to much pressure.

Some people forget porting and just cut a little off the spring.

ive got about 120psi at 5k free rev. About 80 at cruize, is that going to cause any bearing problems?

I dont see how one could ever have too much oil pressure, with respect to main/rod bearings.

thats what I was thinking... I'd rather have a high oil pressure problem vs a low oil pressure problem.. I am going to port my relief hole and if that has no effect im not going to bother with it. bad idea?
