Yep I plan on runnning it more, rockfalls has a SC day in Sept. There is the midway shootout at cedar falls, I think in Oct. I might take it to the dsm/Evo shootout this month.

Holy hell! Boost leak city between that cracked BOV flange and the TB! With that IM you should make some even more epic power and faster times (I hope!).

Hope to see this out at the fall dyno day again

That is great you finally have that intake manifold, and found some issues along the way.

It would be a cool thing to do over this winter, figure out volume from the turbo outlet to the throttle body and figure what the difference is.

But I say first off get that thing on a dyno and see if you are running as much timing as you can, and that the A/F is dead on.

I hope you did not look to much at the ignition timing in the logs, but hey I am glad you were able to pull good info from it.

I don’t know about the dyno yet, my AFR’s are consistent, but I know that the ignition timing is conservative. I like having some extra safety margin.

Yep, I did see your ignition timing, no worries as it is your tune and I would not divulge the specifics to anyone. However it means nothing to me since our setups are vastly different, from IC, to engine, exhaust and turbo. My main takeaway was the turbo responce characteristics.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

About 4 months ago I pinched the IAC wire when I was installing my Magnus V3 manifold. It damaged my EMS. I opened the AEM to diagnose the issue, indeed the low side driver was blown. I replaced the driver and it didn’t fix the problem, so the AEM came back out and I determined that the output from the microprocessor was bad. I drove the car like this and noticed some strange behavior. I ordered the processor but was not confidant I could replace it, since it was a decently high density part, 144 pins to be exact. I called AEM and they told me that they would not replace the processor but the entire board $$$. The AEM finally died the morning of the MAP dyno event. So now I had nothing to lose if I failed to solder the part correctly. With a hot air gun, BGA rework flux and a soldering iron I replace this (The pins are all bent up from me handling it for a month now):

I had to take pictures with my SLR camera to verify the solder joints were correct. The car started and has been running great ever since!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

^Thats pretty sweet.

Not cool that the board was toast, but it was good that it gave you the opportunity to attempt this with nothing to lose and now you know you can do it.

Would you do it again on a good board?

The last company I worked for had an awesome electronics lab that would have made the job super easy, but to successfully accomplish this on a bench in my garage is 100% fucking nuts, period.

Props and I agree! How you did not have a cold joint, lifted a pad, broke a pin, or cross soldered joints... mind blown!

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

Some new pics with the carbon fiber fenders, I don’t know the photographer but they look great. This was the last sport compact day at rockfalls.

More updates to come from this car! I need to start getting it ready for this race season!

Nope, I no longer have any plans to paint the fenders. The look grew on me! The fact is you cannot hide fast 1G's anymore so it might as well be in your face now...

Your shoot/slicks doesn't help either I also like the look. I just remeber seeing you planned on painting them.
