Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Well you all will be happy to know I decided on the 17x9+35. Rims.

I ordered up my tires (didn't go with RE71). My brother said tire rack is having a close out sale on falken azenis 615k.... so I got 255/40/17 ordered up.

I would have bought my rpf1.. but after 2hrs of messing around and searching for cars that 17x9 +35 fit (everyone that said they did, tirerack would say they have no product that fits, or it would change the size to something other then 17x9.

So I'll find some other avenue for those. Probably amazon as I also want to get a TPMS system also.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

That a 95-96 talon. He saI'd he had to use a spacer for the rears to get them to fit.

But the 97-97 buckles have more room. And several people have said they have them and they clear with put spacers

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

I had some RPF1's back on my old 99 I had but they were only 17x8 +35 with 235/45 tires but I don't remember anything being close. Guess your setup is going to be wider but that'll look awesome! RPF1's look great on 2g's!

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

I have 18x8 on there now with 235'sand there is lots room. With that said though.

My 255's showed up on monday. And they look huge in comparison to my 235's.. I can't even imagine what a 285 tire would have looked like (someday I will, if all goes well with the road racing)

Also putting a hold on RPF1's for possibly 2 weeks.

Something came up that I hadn't seen in stock in the last 10 months. So waiting for Thursday's paycheck to put in the order for that. And then it'll be about 2 weeks for the rpf1 order.
I'll share what it is if the product is for sure for sale and
I get confirmation on shipment. If some how the website is mistaken then the rpf1 will get ordered.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

I put my rpf1's on hold till end of the month to buy a pair of "driven - halo" FIA racing seats.

I already had there quick release and steering wheel. And was awaiting for taxes to come in to buy a pair. But Driven got sold to MOMO.

So this is the first batch of seats under the ownership of MOMO. (About 10 month waiting)

You can tell which products were original as they had a white circle. When MOMO took over they changed the logo to a red circle with the "D" in driven now inside the middle.

The driven seats if my math is right. Are either the same dimensions or larger then the sparco pro2000 II and sparco circuit II. I compared them against. (I know I fit a pro 2000 II, so I should fit the Halo just fine I hope.

Nice seats! Are you going to put those in only for track use or daily drive with those? I can imagine side visibility will be a little difficult, not to mention the stock seatbelt use.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

The car is becoming more and more track only, which is what I bought it for anyways.
I was going to hold off on buying seats till next year when I do the cage. But didn't want to miss them again.
But once they're in they won't be coming out.
The only other place I ever drive the car is to work. And it really is basically 2 left hand turns then is a 20mile drive on a back road with little to no traffic as it's out in the sticks. It's a 2 lane road with only 3 passing spots. (1 of which is uphill and already has claimed 3 lives that I know of in 9yrs I've lived here, so really only 2)
I live 16 miles from CMP. And that is a right hand out my neighborhood, and then a right hand into CMP. Again 2 lane road.

When I take the car to VIR I'll be trailering it.

So basically that's my way of saying I should be ok with these seats.

The Driven harnesses are scheduled to be available till December.

So I'll get those at that time in prep for the cage build. Which I'm pretty sure I'll be sending the car to RRT. To copy John Freund's cage.

For this year although I'm way ahead on parts it's also caused delays as a few of them are being built and I can't complete the suspension till they are ready.

So the car is looking to be down at the earliest till september unless I get lucky and build times speed up.

Although there are a ton of events I want to go to, I really only have 1 event that I'd make a priority and that's in Nov when my brother visits and I'd still run my stock seats for that event.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Forgot to post this picture yesterday. But my bump steer kit showed up on monday.

But also getting frustrated with some vendors:
- Carbonetics after agreeing I paid them in full, said it shipped out and would get me the tracking number. Still haven't recieved that and they stopped answering my messages.
- Paul Volk LCA - group buy ended in March and still haven't recieved them. Plus I see he's commenting on his other threads but has skipped over his LCA group buy thead for a couple of days now.
-locally I ordered my brake pads coming up on a month ago and they still haven't come in.

At this rate my Compworks fender braces which aren't scheduled to start being made till Aug. Might get here sooner.

Brakes finally showed up. Drove down to "Panic Motorsports" in columbia before work today to pick them up.

They do spec Miata's. But am planning on having them do my race alignment once the rest of my suspension comes in.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Well they replaced the seats. But my luck must be all used up for the year or something.

The new seats showed up in 3 days with tracking this time. But they must have been rubbing on something during shipping. As there was a tear in both seats that were on the same side of the box.
I got looking at the originals and 1 of them was rubbed almost to the point of a tear in the same spot that I didn't even notice.
Spent 4hrs working on my suspension trying to get ride height all adjusted only to have it be almost undrivable.
FEAL clearances are so tight it's a PITA. To get the suspension off once installed especially the rears.
And on there setup the part that adjusts the ride height is the part that mouth to the lower section. My KYB. You just spun the spring perch to raise or lower, was really fast to set up.
So tomorrow have to try it again as the rears are way to high and the fronts aren't the same angle. (My driveway isn't flat and once I drove the car they settled funny I guess.

Also my carbonetics hood is messed up. Sergio said I'm the first person to recieved a hood that wasn't made right.
Originally he denied any wrong doing. Till I sent him a video of me with my stock hood installed, then had to install my carbonetics hood to prove it. (With out a break in the video btw and since facebook messanger only allows 1.5min. Of video before you have to edit let's just say that was a pain in the ass to finally get a hood swap done in 1.5min.. so he'd finally believe me.
Supposedly he's making a new hood monday and going to tell me how to fix this one I guess? (Not sure how since I can't move the aerocatch latches now that they are cut out).
But frustrated none the less with my bad luck. Was also supposed to go to VIR this coming week and then go see Matt at road atlanta on the 25th.

Only we had a major failure at work friday along with our 4th osha recordable this year (new guy cut half his finger off) and our department is shut down. So now I have to watch my spending, and use my vacation time.

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

Well update good and bad.

Start with seats - I hadn't heard anything from "driven" after sending the email about the damage. I ended up going to VIR with just my mother and son (mom paid for the gas and food, for driving..mom's the best)
Anyrate get a call friday afternoon that fedex delivered more seats however the driver being the douchbag he is decided to jusy roll my seats off the back of his truck 3 feet to the ground. Then drag the box half way down my side way (50feet) before noticong my wife standing at the door watching the whole thing
At which time he then picked them up and carried them the last 50 feet to the front door. She called me to see what I wanted to do. I said open them she did. Long story short this time they wrapped the shit out of the seats practically could have been a giant sized rubber band ball with as much foam and wrapping they did this time so all is well. And there wasn't a return shipping label for this last set of seats or my tshirt which i ordered. So sent them now 3 emails with no replies on how they want me to return the other seats.. Guess they don't want there other seats back, so into closet they go for now.
Next my Paul Volk LCA and rear toe arms finally shipped out today. Hopefully will get here by saturday.
Still waiting to hear about hours rest of the month. But more then likely will be going to 7 days a week due to all the down time we've had.
Which is good and bad. Bad that I have no time to install anything. But good that money will be flowing in nicely again (already surpassed what I made all of last year, as of this week)
So hopefully shortly I'll be putting my rpf1's and tpms back on the "to buy" list.
Once those come in I'll be sending the car off to get the suspension lined out

Re: 1997 GSX - DD, RR, and 11's.

My Paul Volk LCA, and toe arms finally arrived yesterday.

Paul never sent them originally. He thought I was Alexii Coulter who lives in lugoff and the tracking info I orginally got was his. (Im done buying stuff for the year, I must have used all my luck up or something when it comes to vendors and shipping)
So I've decided to just put the car up on hold and start back on it next year.
Sergio from carbonetics still hasnt sent me the video and said but said now once again won't make a differecent as his hoods are different so even if he made a new one it would be the same as what I have
I've opened a claim with paypal and unless they stick me with return shipping, which paypal says more then likely I'd have to pay ($320) I plan to return the hood.
If I get stuck with shipping then I'll jusy have to pay someone to fox the hood properly and quite frankly I'm also considering having a mold made and then selling the "fixed" version mold to a shop or something.

Anyrate here is the pictures of the LCA and toe arms along with my porsche brake ducts.
Which look good.
