Al Blaha Mod?
Can someone tell me where I can find a how to, or tell me how to do it, or if someone has one they want to sell. My car is strapped up on the Dyno right now and i need to do this mod before we can finish tuning it . My car starts going lean at 6k and we're only running 14lbs. I have 550's and a 255, so there is plenty of fuel. I need to fix this ASAP.
Thanks.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
The Blaha is really easy to make, but it'll make your car go even leaner. Lean means too much air, not enough fuel.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
I know what lean means, but i thought the Blaha mod lets air bypass the MAF without it registering to the ECU. If what you're saying is true, what would cause it to go lean at high rpms. No matter how much we turn it up on the AFC it always has the same curve.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
If you're already lean and you can't get your car richened up with the AFC the Blaha will only make matters worse.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
So then maybe you could give me enough insight on the solution? I have what i need when it comes to fuel, and we were only running 14lbs. What are the possibilities for it going lean?

Plugged fuel filter, did you rewire pump, fpr bad, or the pump itself many things could be wrong.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
With a 255 he definitely does not need it rewired. What turbo are you running? You never mentioned that. Are you certain the AFC is hooked up properly? Any check engine lights? As mentioned above, is it possible your fuel filter needs replacing? Just start checking everything related to the fuel supply and control systems. Where are you dynoing? Are they not able to help you diagnose the problem?

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
He is on my dyno. He is a cousin of mine, and I am very busy, so this is a learning experience for him..
Yeah, I suggested the Al Blaha.. It has been a very very long time since I've had to remember the absolute beginnings of modding the stock parts. I just remember doing the Al Blaha(I guess for fuel cut issues), and hacking the mass a bit. Along with doing injectors, a fuel pump, and and AFC.
He has the last three, so I guess his fuel filter could very well be an issue.
He has a PTE 50 trim, fmic, etc..
AFC seems to be installed correctly.
Junaid, since you swapped chassis, I don't hear the typical fuel pump whine of a 255.
I'll take a look at his fpr, and lines going to it.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
The pump is actually rewired, I'm running a PTE 50trim internally gated, I'm sure the afc is properly connected, because we are able to tune anything under 6k, there are no check engine lights, the fuel filter could be a possibility, i'm dynoing at elite and Mo suggested the Blaha mod to me.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
I just talked to shane and he said the Blaha maf will make it run more lean, but it makes it more tunable, so i should be able to compensate for it.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
If the MAF is stock or only has the lower honeycomb removed then it sounds like MAF overrun. The 1G MAF gets into overrun at fairly low airflow/HP levels. Even though there is plenty of fuel left, when it goes into overrun, the ECU wacks out and the car goes lean. You can add all the fuel you want in the AFC and it won't help. Hack the MAF or put in a 2G MAS and then try tuning it.

Re: Al Blaha Mod?
That was going to be my next question. There hadn't been mention of wat turbo. But the little I know about dsm's tells me the stock MAF is the problem.

I think speedfreak said he was running a 50 trim.
