First post from Florida!
Arrived Wensday at around 3pm after 1900 miles (slight detore to S.C.) to drop some stuff off at my parents place), We drove through snow for almost 1600 miles. And Temps didn't get to 40 degrees till we pulled into my parents place.
Friday I then left and went to Texas with Mike and his family for Xmas another 19hr drive. Stayed there for 10 Days then drove back. I tell you I think the cold weather fallowed my from MN even in Texas Temps for the most part were in the 40-50 We even got Snow 1 night.
But now that we're back in Florida it's been 70-80 degrees almost every day since. Bright Sun shine with a slight breeze....
Man I wish my car was running since I've been here I've run into all kind of Exotics.
Even lined up next to a Ferrari Testarosa in Full Road Race Set up (Cage, 1 seat, Sponsor Decals, etc, etc) about 4 Lambo's, Can't even count the Porsche (sp) GT's in this area) all along Okachobee (the main road here) There's primarly only high end Car Dealerships.
I have 2 DSM owners in my Town House complex (1x91 AWD, and a 99 GS-T) nothing to special but good to have fellow DSMr's around.
I'm still in Training but Have been asked by my apartment complex manager to come take a look at the buildings here, and if I can sign them up that'll make my year. I would be about $200,000 in Commission. Just of this one job. I've ask my friend Mike to help with it since he's been doing this for 7 years. And Hell even if the commision is split that's still one hell of a pay check for only 1 job. So far I've been on 5 outings to peoples house's and so far we've signed up 4 out of the 5, if they were my jobs my total commission checks would be about $5,200. And the best part is It only takes about 15 minutes to measure a roof, and do the paper work.
Anyways Hope some of you decide to come down in March or when ever but expect the temps to be in the upper 80-90's by that time.
I'm 6.2 miles from the Ocean.
I'm 60 miles from Miami
I saw a sign for Morosso Motorsport Raceway about 30 miles from here.
Datona is about 3.5hrs from here.
Orlando is about the same.
And if you fly in the Airport is only 3 streets down. And I know they fly to MN cause my father Flew home from there.
Hope all is well back in MN!

Re: First post from Florida!
Glad to hear things seem to be working out well already with the new job.
It's too bad you left though, you missed out on the fun of trying to walk to your car without falling on your ass.

The beach would sure beat this freezing rain crap. 30 miles from a dragstrip would also beat the 2+ hour jaunt I have to get to rf or cr.

All Cher does all summer long though is complain that it is too hot. Then now in the winter, he comes in with no jacket wearing just a T-shirt.

Re: First post from Florida!
Hell ya just finished getting my DSL hooked up so now can talk to you guys at night when ever I want.
As for FLORIDA I'm loving every minute of it. Last Saturday we took the day off and Mike and his family and me went to the beach and went Body surfing and Boogie boarding for the first time since I've been here. I also dropped off my scuba diving equipment at a shop to get re-certified so I can go out diving. ($50 for 2 tank Dives = how I'm going to spend almost every day off)
Anyrate I had some morning workin yesterday and afterwards went out snorkeling with Mike and his family at a different beach which we were told has some Reefs, etc. And this being Mikes first time Snorkeling I wanted him to see something cool and reefs are where it's at. Well turns out we got more then we were bargaining for.
We started off by seeing the blue fish from FINDING NEMO. And a bunch of other species or fish, (cow fish, a puffer, etc, etc typical fish in the ocean)
And after going back in to get some defogger for our masks I thought it would be fun to put on my gloves and play with the wild life. After about 5 minutes of swimming around the reef trying to catch these fish and what not. I wanted to grap a stick to see if there was anything in a hole in this reef so I noticed this Grey long stick looking thing about 2.5-3 feet in length mixed in with some floating seaweed. So as I'm going down to (10feet depth) to pick it up just as I'm about to grab it I notice and out line in the sand. The damn thing wasn't a Stick after all it was a 3.5 Foot Wing span Sting Ray. Lucky for me I didn't grap the stick cause if I had more then likely I would have gotten stuck with 1 of it's 2 Venomous Stickers that are attached to it's tail.
Anyways so I show it to Mike and use my fin to scare it into moving and we chase it for a while. Run out of energy and start to head back to the Reef/Shoreline. As we turn around. I notice a Large Dark Shadow in the not to far off distance swimming. Scares the living Shit out me. And I grab mike which Scares the living shit out of him.
We start swimming towards the Reef/Shorline And I'm keeping and Eye on this shadow. Turns out it was a Manity (endangered speacies) about 10 in length. After realizing there was no danger Mike and I swim up to. Or should I say it swam somewhat towards us. didn't even Care we were there. Came up right next to us for Air and then went under and back on it's way. I got to touch it. Was pretty cool. Didn't think I'd see one out in the ocean. As I always thought there more an Inlet type species. None the less cool and unexpected. I can't wait to get my Diving Gear back so I can really have some fun.
