91 Talon strange timing problem

So I've been having issues ever since I put in my new belt, and I need this thing in shape before the cookout because I'm supposed to be leaving for arizona right afterwards.
So what happened was i put in the new belt, it jumped, but not enough to bend valves, it was running advanced so I just retarded the cam sensor so I could limp it home and have a friend retime it... He did, and all seemed well for about a day, but it didn't seem to have the power it should so I drove it home and opened the hood and holy hell the manifold and turbo are red when I wasn't even really getting into it... So I thought "No problem timing on the CPS is too advanced because everything else still looks to be in time" so I tried resetting it by ear got a ton of power again, however I get a really loud tick in the low RPM's not to far above idle, but it won't do it if I get into the throttle hard.
So ideally I'd love it if someone could come by my place (North Minneapolis) and tell me whats going wrong and help fix it, because it seems no matter what I do this car wants to fight me the entire way.
Anyone willing to help let me know and I'll PM you my number, it'd be beyond appreciated.
I truly apologize if this has been covered before, I did try the search feature on here and 3 other forums and came up with nothing that helped me.
