The DSM/Evo Trailer Build...WTF

I picked up a new 24' all aluminum enclosed trailer today, I'm going to make it awesome. This may not be the best place to discuss the build, is anyone interested to see what I'm going to do to it?

My wife's TBSS pulled it like a diesel! It's super light, weighing in at 2850 unloaded with a GVW of 10800!

Wow, that's a nice one. It is really nice being able to lock up all your stuff in an enclosed trailer. So is this one going to get a disco ball and kegerator?

Damn Mark just got the pimp set up! That fucker is big enough for a golf cart instead of a pit bike! Don't want you starting your own team 8 finger racing just want to see 8.xx ET!

Are you leaving the trailer white or getting graphics to match the motor home!

Re: The DSM/Evo Trailer Build...WTF

I went with the ‘24 so I had options down the road with pit vehicles, yes a golf cart would be awesome! No way will I be 8 fingered racing either.
The plan is to finish the floors and walls. Add a permanent tool box and aluminum side cabinets. I want this level completed before PG2. Then I will add electrical and lighting down the road.
When I was shopping for trailers the finishing components were huge adders to the overall cost. My trailer was just under $9K. The adder for finished floors, walls, electrical and front only cabinets brought the total to $15K! I think I can accomplish the look and function for about 1500 dollars. I already picked up wall and floor materials and a 41” tool box from Menards this weekend.
Well here is a before picture:

We are working on the flooring first. It’s Ύ inch wood. We started by sealing up the screw heads with epoxy. Then sanded them flat. The plan is to have it all glossy and finished looking by the end of the week. I’m using the Rustoleum floor epoxy concrete kits. I had an extra epoxy concrete floor paint kit that I used as a base coat. Other people have tried it and it holds up awesome on wood floors too.

Re: The DSM/Evo Trailer Build...WTF

Sweet trailer! That should be a killer setup and you can camp in it too with some planning.

I would be scared of pulling that thing with the TB though. I had a trailer start swaying on me once and it scared the shit out of me. It started swaying coming down a hill and into a corner. The only way to stop it is to accelerate, so I did and at the worst point it was pulling the back of the truck 2 feet side to side. Thank god there was a hill on the other side and once I hit that it pulled the trailer back enough to straighten it out.

Never again will I pull with a marginal vehicle. With the tools and car in there it will drastically outweigh the TB. The short wheelbase is the biggest issue. My instance was in a V8 explorer, so same sized vehicle and the whole thing weighed less than your setup.

Re: The DSM/Evo Trailer Build...WTF

Jet, good warning. I saw black marks on the freeway on 35e south of forest lake that were more than likely due to a trailers lack of stability, it's no joke. It looked like it would have been a nasty ride/ accident. The only reason I used the tb was to go pick it up. The rv will be the full time puller!

Will there be a trophy shelf in there, or do we have to build you one at the next cookout?!

The trailer is as much as people spend on dsm's haha.

Looks sweet and will be way nicer to have that than your previous trailer! Good luck with the build!

Safety first, pink sandals and all! Rockin the sander. She is a trooper, but this lands in the court of home style refinishing where she is a helper. She has no interest in the car domain, but she is 110% supportive of my hobby!

Thanks! I'm excited to load the car in it and hopefully get that 8 second pass I've been looking for up at PG2!

Little update: I put one more coat of epoxy paint on it and the little flake stuff. Next is the clear and the floor work is done!
