Transfer case recall anyone?

So I went to change out the fluid in the transfer case of my 93 talon tsi. First thing I notice is that its leaking from somewhere on the body of the TC. Second thing I notice when I drain it, is that there are a shit ton of metal shavings in it. The plug was absolutely full of metal shavings, and some even came out when draining it initially. I had suspected there was a problem with it, as there is a noticeable whine while in motion coming from what I guessed to be the TC.

Sooo... what dealership around here should I go to, that won't hassle me? This thing is still covered under recall, correct?

Cliffs notes: Need transfer case recall done. This still being done? Where do I go for it?

Ok, if you have a Talon/Laser, go to a Chrysler dealership, Mitsu, go to Mitsu. They will check the VIN to see if it has alreayd been done, if so, you may be outta luck, they may inspect it and if it is failing do the warrenty work again. A service writer said they get paid very well for warrenty work, so it's not like they won't be hesitant to do it. I've asked Roseville Chrysler about this alot, I ended up just doing it myself. I have seen a lot of modded DSMs there for the recall.

Re: Transfer case recall anyone?

FYI, I had my recall performed at Roseville Chrysler. They did perform it without too much hassle, but would only replace the transfer case not the crappy copper plug piece on the drive shaft. That was even after the new transfer case leaked. They also managed to put a huge scratch in my paint and charged me for a tow they assured me beforehand they would cover. I DO NOT recommend going to them for the service.

You can get the slip yoke and u joint in a kit for like $40-60 at Mitsu, but it sounds like you may need a transfer case! I actually have two working ones, $25 if you need one, they're for the 91-94 trannys though.

Re: Transfer case recall anyone?

Forgot to mention that it took two weeks to do the recall. I say grab one of those used ones and swap. It's a 30 minute job. Easier than dealing with any dealer.
