Re: Free road course action in Brainerd!

1 in 10 chance to win a grab bag for helping me out. Follow easy instructions for your chance to win.

Simply make one of the following happen:

-Post a new thread on another forum expressing your experiences or excitement about this event. Post the details from this thread, or if you haven't been to this event yet, post up event details and some of the previous posts about giveaways etc.

-Make a facebook event for PG on your FB page

-Make a FB cruise event page to the event

Any of these 3 will work, making a FB event plus a forum post, will get you 2 entries to the contest.

So help me make this event huge, get the exposure and attendance it deserves, and I'll hook you up!

Send an email to troy@maperformance.com with the title of the email being "PG LOVE". Be sure to add links to your threads or FB event pages.

Thanks!

We're almost at 60 now lol. Going to be insane. I wonder who will run the fastest, what type of car etc? I know there is some diversity this year so it should make some cool competition!

Re: Free road course action in Brainerd!

Wow, a ton of people signed up in the past week then. 15 cars at a time on the track should be pretty fun. Is there a sign up list published so we can see what cars we're up against for the competition?

I really wish I could bring the road race slicks but there is no way to get them up there.

Re: Free road course action in Brainerd!

I don’t like to post the registration lists as some get paranoid for insurance reasons. Let’s just say there will be lots of evo’s and STi’s. some fast vette’s too.

i hear the Professionally awesome team will be there with their Road Race monster Evo VII.

I just hope people are safe out there and not jackasses with the passing and blocking. It's dangerous out there and hopefully most people are just out there to drive and have fun, not out there trying to race during the normal sessions.

I am kinda thinking the same thing, the last hpde i did there was a bit of ego going on whenever I had to pass in one of the passing zones. Apparently BMW's and corvette drivers have a hard time dealing with evo's passing. It wasn't that I wanted to pass "just because" it was they would be holding you up for 3 laps and never signal. Frustrating to say the least.

Have you road raced the new car much? Be careful with giving the car too much gas out of turn 12, RWD guys like to do that and then do a 180 across the track, sometimes into the pit wall.

You shall not pass!

Seriously though, are we not allowed to pass unless someone gives us the wave by on the straights? I just read the instructions that were emailed out, but I wasn't sure if we had to wait for permission to pass or if it was just a nice gesture.

Will there be any instructors or experienced people to ride along? This will be my first road course action ever and some tips would be very helpful. I've done a few autocrosses but that's the extent of my driving experience.

Thanks for the tip. I'll probably leave all the computer controls on at first and maybe switch to the competitive driving mode once I get a better feel for everything. I do notice it's tail happy with too much gas out of the corners, I have to learn to feather the throttle more, I can't mash it like with the Talon haha.

No it is just a the polite thing to do, no need to wreck a car guessing whether a person knows you are there or not.

Agreed. Some of those straights seem pretty short to pass especially if the person doesn't know you're passing, better safe than sorry. I'll probably be the one getting passed anyway, haha.

Edit: Any update on who won the free road course time?

Yea, usually during the HPDE days they only allowing passing in a few spots unless you are in the advanced run group. It's hard to pass even on the decently long straight between turn #3 and turn #4, unless you have a lot more power than the the other guy and he waves you by right away.

You are probably safer not running the slicks, unless you have a lot of experience with your car. Normal tires will be a lot more predictable.
