WTB: Any model Evo Recaro

Anyone have one laying around they want to get rid of for cheap? I'm not too particular about the condition as long as there's no massive stains or rips. I want to turn it in to an officer chair for my desk at work!

Jim sold them. I asked last fall since I wanted to use the fronts and rears for the mirage.

Re: WTB: Any model Evo Recaro

Good luck. I tried making an office chair out of my original mint GSX seat, it didn't go well and I scrapped the project long ago.

What troubles did you run in to?

Seemed like it would be pretty easy in theory. Bolt a flat piece of metal to the bottom half of a chair (wheels and height adjustment), JB weld seat to the metal part... or am I missing something?

This might help, http://www.instructables.com/id/Chea...-Office-Chair/

Probably a lot more to it than just welding it together. Car seats are heavy, probably need to center it, and then how about when you sit on it, where is most of the weight going to be and what not. Get the widest base of rolling wheels imo. Also, wouldn't it suck to sit in a car seat all day? My arse falls asleep on road trips...

Re: WTB: Any model Evo Recaro

Given the weight of most seats I'd weld a square base on the chair to roller wheels or leave it fixed.

That is more or less what I planned on doing, only using a piece of metal, no plywood. And yes, I know I need to center the weight, not the chair else it will tip over. lol

Re: WTB: Any model Evo Recaro

It ended up being that car seats are not equal from side to side, the balance is off, and there were a few other things I can't remember. I made the bracket for it and everything, but it looked like ass and didn't feel right. The Recaro chairs were different, a buddy of mine has one and it's pretty cool. You would probably have better luck with aftermarket seats since they are universal from side to side.

$279, not bad! I wish I knew if it was comfy or not though. I don't think they have them on the showroom at Office Depot :P
