basic idle issue

Ok, i've ben out of the dsm world for a little while and i have forgoten most everything,

now, 1st issue this season.. high idle
When I start the car in the morning it idles at about 2000rpm until it warms up where I have to rev it a bit and the idle falls down to 740rpm and stays idling just fine.

Last year it used to idle on cold start at 900rpm until it warms up and then fall to 740rpm.

What should i inspect, egr removed possibly the issue?

issue 2 due to issue 1

Puting it in reverse is imposible without grinding gears, until the car warms up and idle drops down at which time i can easily put it in reverse without grinding gears. Once i press clutch it should disengage and i should be able to get it into the gear, doesn't matter what the rpm, right?

Re: basic idle issue

before putting it in reverse, try putting it in neutral, letting off the clutch, pressing it again and going into reverse.

Re: basic idle issue

I would adjust your BISS. It sounds like you might need to screw it in a couple turns. Also check for boost leaks.

Re: basic idle issue

Yeah Puhrot finaly returned the boost leak tester, i'll test for boost leaks, i turn the biss all the way in and then adjust idle by turning it out when the car is hot..

Re: basic idle issue

Your fast idle air valve could also be bad. If the ISC is bad then it should do funky idle stuff all the time (up and down repetitions).

Your reverse gear does not have synchros and if the edges of it are worn out then you have to be at a complete stop and the lower the engine speed is better at lining up the gearing. You probably just have a worn out reverse gear.

Re: basic idle issue

If your car is not driven in the winter just get a block off plate from QPR and slap that on.

The FIAV is the bottom part on your TB that all the coolant pipes get connected to. I replaced mine with a good one and all my idle problems went away- finding a good one is really hard though.

Re: basic idle issue

The FIAV is made of metal and is just the bottom half of the TB. The ISC motor is a small motor towards the firewall that sticks out of the TB. (Atleast on a 1G)
