6Bolt or 7Bolt

What do you think would be better for me? I cant deside for myself. As some of you know I rebuilt a 6Bolt and put it in my 2G(1998 GST Spyder), 500 miles later i believe the oil pump siezed up and the motor is now SHOT. Now I could get another 6Bolt from LSE for about 1800 or I could take the 7Bolt thats in my garage and get timing belt stuff and a flywheel and run that until it crankwalks if it does. Right now I have $0 and I work little and go to school. My mom knows the loan guy and he said he could tack on another $1000 and just give it to me. What would you guys do? go and spend the money for a 6Bolt or just wait til the 7Bolt crankwalks(if it does). Thanks for the POSITIVE advice in advance.
Mike

You have PLENTY of time to work on the perfect 6 bolt. Use the cash to get your car running and build a 6 bolt if you want over time. Get another core and just build it as a spare.

Re: 6Bolt or 7Bolt

But all I would want for now and for the future is a stock rebuilt 6Bolt. Nothing to big.

Re: 6Bolt or 7Bolt

It sounds like you can get the 7 bolt running for just a few hundred in parts. Opposed to spending more than you would have for a standard rebuilt 6 bolt. Maybe over the next year or 2 you can take the money you saved by not doing the 6 bolt now, add in a small amount you can try and save each month and have a moderatly built 6 bolt.

Re: 6Bolt or 7Bolt

If you want to get it running now and build up later, I would just throw in a 7 bolt until you have enough to build a race motor.

Re: 6Bolt or 7Bolt

There isn't going to be much difference between a stock 7 bolt and a stock 6 bolt. Just throw the 7 bolt back in the car to get it running. It doesn't sound like you're too interested in the car performance wise anyway.
