Question CRCO (MBCAD) Main Cap alignment kit

Hey guys, I'm in the process of rounding up parts to put my '99 motor back together. I came across this Main Cap alignment kit that you can get from extremepsi to align the 'girdle' so it sits perfect in there. It sells for like $55.

It says it's designed for use with ARP studs. My question is: Can I just use the OEM factory main bolts with this kit or does it ONLY work with ARP's?

I'd like to use this kit if possible. It definately wouldn't hurt in the build.

Thanks for any help....

Don't use them with the factory bolts. If I remember right the CRCO kit is used cause there is a bit of diameter differance with the studs vs the botls.

Re: CRCO (MBCAD) Main Cap alignment kit

Thanks for the reply...So in otherwards, factory bolts probably wouldn't even fit in the CRCO kit because the bolts are probably about the same diameter as the alignment pins, therefore the kit isn't even needed. ARP studs are smaller diameter than the factory bolts, thus needing the kit??

Am I understanding this right, or do I have it ass backwards.

Thanks.

Yeah, that's right, if I am right. Just wait for one of the guys to jump in who's used them to confirm.

Re: CRCO (MBCAD) Main Cap alignment kit

If you have a 99 short block there is only thrust washers in the block side and nothing in the main cap so CRCO bushing is not needed/will not do anything. If you install ARP mains get the block line honed.

Thanks for your input John. I'm just going to get new OEM main bolts, not ARP's.

I appreciate the quick help guys.

I would still have the main bores checked, and you can get a line hone done with the stock main bolts if it needs it.

Damm I feel left out.

The CRCO "kit" was designed due to the slightly narrower ARP main bolt.

We "pin" caps using a similar method. Requires extensive machine work, but no way in hell they (main caps) are shifting.
