Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
That thing is nuts! And yeah, I'd throw a 4g63 in it too.

$32k for all of the parts for the basic car, less engine and transmission. Free shipping on orders over $41k!
You can buy these fully assembled (rolling chassis)for $89k, just add your motor and tranny and race!

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
Good god...Those motors are crazy expensive! I'd cut out the v8 mounts and build a 4g63, slap a built fwd tranny on it, and throw that in there instead.

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
Yep, good track car. It also holds the 0-150-0 record. They use a LS engine usually and a Porsche G50 series tranny. There is another kit car that I like better, the FFR GTM. I have drooled over them since before they came out. This kit is 20k and you need a donor C5 Vette (under 10k for a banged up one) and Porsche G50 tranny. 2300 lbs finished weight!

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
lol, fuck the 4g63 in a car like that, buy a v12 out of a jag or a bmw or mercedes, but christ, why shoot yourself in the foot with a 4g63?
picture this: kit supercar with turbo 4g63 4 banger.
Now picture this: kit supercar with a twin turbo v12 merc. powerplant.
I don't care how much I love one engine over another, this is a matter of principle.

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
I agree. If i had a badass kit car capable of taking a large motor i would try and use the largest one i could afford.
A badass alloy 8 Liter plus v8/10/12 would be an entirely different world of awesome.

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
That FFR's pretty cool, but the coolest thing about the Ultima is that you do not need a donor car for it at all. Going 4G63 in it, basically would be to keep cost/complexity down, and maybe even weight. An evo IX crate motor is around $4k with manifolds, turbo and everything. You could get it running on that, then throw another few thousand at it and make it faster.

The donor car aspect is what makes the FFR superior in my mind. I would have much greater confidence using suspension pieces off of a proven, well-engineered vehicle such as the vette. Especially when the vette was designed to haul 3100ish pounds around a track.
Also in case anyone was wondering the RCR ultralite roller is $44k http://www.superlitecars.com/coupe_spec.html

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
Yes, the SL-C is bad ass also, much like the Ultima. I am sure it will handle better than the GTM, both of those are basically street legal race cars. The GTM is a little more street oriented and I think it looks better also. I think you will agree that the interior of the GTM is much more production car also.
Here is a prototype of their race version.

Re: Ultima GT kit car around Top Gear Track!
See, I look at that and think Ford GT, kinda a turn-off for me. The Ultima is just bad-ass because it looks like nothing else. A real GT1 car.
