Changing transfer case fluid - Question

I'm wanting to change the transfer case fluid before i race the car. I bought some Redline Shockproof for the xfer case. Can someone verify how much oil to put in the xfer case. The reason i ask is because the manual says 1.1 pints, which is just a tad over 1/2 quart. I guess it doesn't seem like much oil and that's why i ask. I always thought you add oil until its level with the fill plug but that would be way over 1.1 pints i think.

Thanks.

Re: Changing transfer case fluid - Question

Ok, i still need help please. The answer to my question was 1.1 pints. The manual illistrates that 1.1 pints will be level with the bottom part of the fill plug. I completely drained any oil that i could. I even raised the front of the vehichle so the oil would drain towards the back which is where the drain plug is on the transfer case.

1.1 pints is just a little bit less than the size of a 20oz pop. So i put my Redline oil in the pop bottle and put it in the transfer case. However, you simply cannot add 1.1 pints. It wants to gush out of the oil plug.

So is there a certain amount of oil that won't come out of the transfer case unless you take it out of the car, drain it end on end, take it apart, etc..?? I put the whole 1.1 pints in and shoved the plug in quick. A little bit more can't hurt, can it.

If anyone can answer my 2 questions, I would appreciate so i can get that dam thing off the jackstands tonight.

Thanks!!!!

Yeah, there is fluid in there that won't come out. I am sure having a little extra fluid in there won't hurt anything.
