clutch upgrade for '89 colt GT (turbo)

I have a 1.6 and my clutch is slipping and makes my happy gauge go down.. I would like to upgrade it while i'm in there. does anyone know what clutch will transfer over?

These are the OEM specs from oreillys site:

Outside Diameter: 8.5"
Inside Diameter: 7/8"
Teeth: 20

I have the 4g61 with a 5-speed, FWD. Thanks!! Also if anyone has a compatiable clutch that they have for sale, please let me know.

It should be the same as the fwd dsm's I think. I haven't done a colt though, so don't quote me.

If its the same as a FWD dsm then it would be the same for any DSM. Only difference is in the flywheels. I'm wondering this too cause I'll probably need to upgrade mine once the turbo goes on.

From O'reilly's website, under compatiability.

1990-1994MitsubishiEclipse
[GS] L4 - 2.0L vin R 122ci 1997cc - MFI GAS DOHC
[GS] L4 - 2.0L vin U 122ci 1997cc - MFI GAS DOHC Turbo-charged
[GS] L4 - 2.0L vin E 122ci 1997cc - MFI GAS DOHC
[GS] L4 - 2.0L vin F 122ci 1997cc - MFI GAS DOHC Turbo-charged
[GSX] L4 - 2.0L vin U 122ci 1997cc - MFI GAS DOHC Turbo-charged
[GSX] L4 - 2.0L vin F 122ci 1997cc - MFI GAS DOHC Turbo-charged

so this means I can find an aftermarket clutch for a 1st gen eclipse turbo and it should be the same. It just wont be marketed as one for a '89 colt gt. (I made the wrong screenname, can admins edit that or no?)

Re: clutch upgrade for '89 colt GT (turbo)

the oem 1.6 clutch is not the same as a dsm. your best bet is to get a 6bolt turbo fwd flywheel and a dsm clutch and be done with it

the 1.6 is just like a n.a. flywheel and clutch

You'd need to swap transmissions then, wouldn't you?

I believe you would use the awd flywheel with the stock 1.6 tranny as its housing is a lot smaller than the fwd?

with the stock 1.6 turbo tranny you need to use the fwd turbo fly wheel.

the 1.6 tranny and the 2.0 turbo tranny are the same trannys for the most part.
